A very sad day. I knew Dr. Mel and his family from when he lived in Ridgefield and his children were students at the middle school - then know as a junior high school.

Rest in Peace Dr. Mel.

When Geoff Fox was fired I stopped watching Channel 8 weather almost entirely. With Dr. Mel's departure soon after there was no reason to tune in anymore.

Hard to believe we'll never see Dr. Mel again, out in the middle of a snowstorm smiling that big smile while the storm blows around him. He will be missed.
