Thoughts and prayers, very sad news. Both parents died within hours of each other.

I just lost my father a month ago (almost to the day). I can only imagine extrapolating that experience to losing both parents so abruptly and in such horrifying fashion. My sincerest condolences to him and his family.

Father had been ill, died of a heart attack this morning. Mother had a sudden heart attack an hour later. Too much stress from losing her husband of 56 years. Condolences to the family.

"They say you can die of a broken heart and I believe it," Flutie said. "I would like to honor my parents for all that they did throughout my and my brothers' and sister's lives. My parents were always there for their children, from the days my Dad coached us as kids and my Mom would work the concession stands, through to this morning."
RIP

That's awful. However, my parents are best friends and inseparable. I actually wish they would go out like that. Knowing the misery the surviving one will feel is one of my biggest worries at this point in my life. I don't think either one can function without the other.

The selfish side of me knows that I am very empathetic and very close to my parents so I will constantly try to entertain the surviving parent. That is a lot of pressure. I am sure many of you are dealing with that type of thing. Being there for a lonely and elderly parent is very difficult while juggling a career and your own family.

When I found out yesterday I was floored. But after reading how it happened, it's clear that it was in God's plan for them to go home to be with Him in that way. Goes to show you that we're not here forever, so enjoy the ride. He lived a fruitful life, went home, but before that he came back and got his bride on the way up to heaven. What better way to go.
