OT: Digitizing 8mm film

Has anyone had 8mm film digitized locally in CT? I have about a dozen home movies over 60 years old and I'm looking for local options.

Will the results be any better than broadcasting on a screen and just recording them? Do they do any digital cleanup as a part of the process?

I used this to transfer to a SD card and then was able to edit and clean up a little on the computer. Worked great and a lot cheaper than paying someone. Works with the actual reels

Question is this an 8mm Hi8 camcorder film cassette? Or is this 8mm reel film? I found the Camcorders can do it for you if you've got Hi8 tapes. They can output via Firewire to a PC.

Probably had 25-30 reels, some of the film was from the '40's - amazed at how well the process went.

This guy was awesome. Very inexpensive, picked up, dropped off, awesome job converting, great advice, has tons of perfect reviews on Facebook. He converted mini-dvs to discs and usb sticks … 5 stars plus. I couldn’t believe how little I paid to have 20 mini-dvs converted, and how great the service was.

Did it myself with the item I mentioned in post #5. Was too expensive to have someone do them.
