Stern handed down his $250,000 fine today because Popovich sat out 4 of his best players last night. You are no longer allowed to coach your team how you see fit. Anytime a player sits out now, it first has to be cleared with Stern, can't wait until this little egomaniac retires.

Im kind of on both sides of the fence here. There is no rule for, this for Stern to make his own rules is ridiculous he could have just left a public opinion and left it at that. The truth is every veteran team does this they are just a little more suttle about it. All Popovich had to do was make up something up like Parker has a sore ankle, Duncan has a cold, Ginobili has a sore back. I dont like how Popovich gave his vets preferrential treatment, they should be there to support their teammates especially the guys who dont get to play that often.

duck* the Spurs.

They say they made the decision over the summer to send their players home for this game.

NBA tickets cost an assload of money. That money keeps dopey bastards like Popovich and the rest of the Spurs rolling in cash for playing a kid's game. If I paid full boat for last night's game and noticed that the Spurs showed up without their four best players, I'm pissed.

There are 82 games. You want to rest a guy here and there, go for it. You want to give the entire starting lineup the night off? You get to deal with the commissioner.

If Miami can't get their sorry fans out to watch the collection of all-stars they have then that is just pathetic. Popovich has done this before, he picks a couple of games a year where he sits his old big three out to give them a rest. He coaches the team, knows his players and knows what works best, he doesn't need that little troll telling him how to run his team. I have a major problem with teams having to call dictator Stern whenever they are sitting out a player. Stern was good for the league in making it a global game but that's a long time ago, the guy absolutely sucks now.

I think that's the only argument to be had: the fans' perspective. And I think that's why Stern was so irate. It's the business aspect of it.

But Popvich is an all-time great coach and manager. It's his team of dinosaurs (spectacular dinosaurs at that). They were playing their 4th game in 5 days. Stern needs to shutup and let the man do his job. Notice he didn't complain when Pop did this last year.

By the way, that's how I've felt about the Spurs since TD joined them (was a fan in the early to mid 90's).

However, I totally admire Pop and the job he's done. Amazing.
