I wouldn't touch Howard with a ten foot pole as trade bait or in free agency.

He's shown himself to have too much of the Starbury disease.

Considering how much better the Celtics got when Ronda went out, I'd do it.

One wonders how much the ACL injury will take out of Rondo's game, but I don't think DH is the answer; he's been a problem for every team he has played for. The Celts do need a name big man, however, to get Number 18.

Speaking of Howard, how the hell did he get on the All-Star team?
Probably voted in by the fans? Not sure...

To comment on the potential trade, the guy seems like he has all the talent in the world, but he's not on a team that currently utilizes it as effectively as they could. Still, Rondo is just a terrific PG. The Celts are old-ish. They seem like they are doing well without Rondo, but it seems like a pretty big risk...

The end of Steve Nash's career has been knocking on the door, progressively more loudly.

This trade would signal it kicking in the door.

How often are these trades brought up and how often do they actually happen.

I just really don't think Dwight is that good..

Agreed. He always has these jaw dropping dunks and plays but when you think about it, what is his skill set? Defensively he gets an A+. But offensively...does he have a mid range game? No. Post moves? Very few. Free throw shooting? Hell no. Hes athletic, can rebound and get put back dunks. Thats about it.

agree, dwight just isnt a good basketball player. orlando made out like bandits getting afflalo and vucevic for him in that trade. sure they went from winning 50 games every year to being worse than every team in the NBA besides the bobcats, but theyre probably just getting really unlucky.

Dwight could extend Pierce's and Garnett's careers. The Celts would need a good PG to feed Howard in the right spots.

I think he respects Pierce and Garnett more than Mehta and Gasol. Sulinger, Green and Bass would make for a powerful front court.

On the right team, Howard would be the piece that brings home the title. Imagine him on Miami? He's a tremendous defensive player and a great athlete with great size. He is mechanical offensively. In those ways, he is very much like a better Andre Drummond, but I think Drummond is quicker and more athletic.

In Howard's case, his head is the problem.

When healthy, Dwight Howard is an exceptional basketball player. Come on, guys. He put some mediocre teams on his back and took them deep into the playoffs. Now, I wouldn't want him to play *with* Rondo, because you've got 2 guys who can't shoot (and are liabilities when it comes to FT time). I'd also be scared to trade for him him right now -- he just doesn't look right.

But before his injury, he was phenomenal. Wilt, Kareem and Shaq aren't walking through that door, fellas -- D12 is pretty much the best pure center you're going to find. If he's healthy.

I love Rondo, but if this opportunity were real (and it's isn't, at all), I'd have to consider it (scared as I would be). It would be rolling the dice, but at this point Ainge needs to roll the dice.

Great points all around. I don't like Howard at all, but before his injury he was pretty damn dominate. I guess people here have very short memories.

Imagine being Howard and hearing Kobe say those things. Man, Kobe sure doesn't give a fukk.

Howard should go to Boston then elbow Kobe hard in the teeth.
