So how come its never televised? Looks more exciting than soccer, especially when they have blood on their horns.

linky: Spanish bulls in symbolic knockout victory

Because it is boring as you can possibly imagine. Soccer games are infinitely more exciting. Though I'd rather watch bull fighting than golf, tennis, Nascar and 18 other sports.

Wow, you're one of the only people I've ever heard say that tennis is boring.

You see those 5 white thingies sticking out from the bulls back? A team of 4-5 daredevils/aka banderillelo's run at the bull and stick those into his back/neck to weaken him before the bullfighter comes out. And before that some guys on horses stick giant spears into him. Then the dandy bullfighter comes out and fights the bloody animal that occasionally gets lucky and takes a chunk out of something (usually a horse). If they put it on TV everyone would realize how brutal it is and it'd be outlawed.

Really? I used to work for a sports agency that began in tennis (Donald Dell/ProServ/then became SFX). When pimping tennis to consumers, we used to fight against the sheer boredom of it. What a racket. "But tennis viewers are rich, pitch Rolex! and yachts and stuff."

Oh, never knew that. The one time I wish I was a mod:

Yep. Saw it once while in Spain and vowed to never support it again.

Not only is everything you said spot on, if during the competition the matador gets in trouble, the banderillelo's come back out to distract the bull while the matador recovers.

It's about as exciting as walking up to a beaver with it's leg snared in a trap and shooting the beaver.

It's grizzly. I read Hemingway's book on bullfighting before I went, and like anything, there are nuances to the "sport" that only a fan can appreciate it.

I went to Punta Cana for my honeymoon. At some point the TV was turned on and there was bullfighting. I was amazed at what I was watching. Probably because I didn't know it was that bloody.

Does the matador end the "fight" by shoving a knife in its brain and giving it a shake?

I said this on another thread, but it bears repeating:

Absolute crap that they cancelled it because the bulls were winning. If you are going to be put in the ring to fight for your life on a regular basis, you deserve a shot at winning. Rigged contest.

It's a disgusting way of torturing an animal and has nothing to do with sport. I don't want to here about tradition and all that other cr@p. I can't think of too many things more cowardly than taunting, tormenting and eventually killing a beautiful animal.
