He was so innocent though! I thought Jessie would have made a better decision but he didn't.

It was Gale or them. He didn't have a choice; him and Walt were dead if he didn't kill Gale.

No I know the circumstance. I just hope Walt gets what he deserves in the end. A lot of innocent blood on his hands throughout the shows run.

I hope so, too. And I'm sure he will. The flash forward to start the season suggests his empire crumbles in the not so distant future.

Maybe they just want you to think that
My guess is that it is not his actual birthday cuz I don't think 'The Villigan' leaves this mini-season's cold open hanging until 2013 AND I don't think they are going to time jump 1-year in the 3 episodes left when we've only just passed a year in 5 1/2 seasons. On the other hand how do you explain all the hair...

I will go out on a limb and say my best guess is this mini-season ends with Walt & others (let's say Jesse + one or two max family members, others are going to pay for Walt's crimes) using the disappearer with a NH relo contemplated.

Show is always unpredictable though, anyone else got a theory?

It was his birthday...on a fake ID.

Who says it was actually his birthday?

Why would he make out the '52' in bacon if it wasn't his birthday? Was his whole plan just to get a free breakfast out of it, while leaving a $100 tip?

There's no way we've seen the last of the ricin that Walt hid in the first episode of this season.

People keep saying this, but I would be surprised if he used it again. I think he kept it as a trophy, to remember him winning killing Gus and winning Jesse back. They've already used the ricin; in my mind, it's run its course.

exactly. he's coming back to new mexico a year later after something happened to either his family or jesse. he wasn't wearing his wedding band, so maybe something happened to skyler.

FWIW I find Mad Men more entertaining that Breaking Bad. I understand they're two entirely different animals but they're also the 2 best shows on TV so they are always compared.

It's also funny both of these shows have two of the most miserable female characters in the history of tv Betty Draper and Skyler White

i don't get the skyler hate. walt's done some screwed up stuff to her and her family.

She's a drama queen!

At least Betty Draper got fat and started to get low self esteem, that definitely made up for all the crap that she gave Don Draper.

Is that the same Don Draper who is never home, cheats on his wife repeatedly and actually ISN"T Don Draper but someone else? Betty only gave Don half the crap he deserved.

What kind of mother goes to a random bar and picks up a guy and bangs him in a back room. What kind of person goes out and shoots their neighbor's animals because she feels like it? She's a manipulator who always gets what she wants. She's a terrible mother and her maturity is of a 12 year old. I wish her continued misery and I hope her character dies of diabetes or a massively painful heart attack while she's on the crapper.

Yikes, between you and mommy issues we might have to lop off the heads of both original Drapers/Whitman's.

I think the debate about either supporting females* in doomed marriages those excellent shows is dwarfed by the wet rage useless, bad mother, cuckolding do nothing wife in the schlockier show Walking Dead.

* In her defense I think the Betty Draper backlash is actually about January Jones, most think she can't act. I say she's perfect for the role because she is a lot like her character, looks great not much going on upstairs. Anna Gunn in contrast is pretty universally admired acting wise but her character is perceived as a nag AND there is also unjustifiable Skyler backlash from people who thought she was too heavy one season.

In my defense I forgot about the bathroom banging episode. However, why is it less offensive for a Dad to go about screwing everything that walks, but if a woman does it she's a "bad mother"?

Rich, I agree about January Jones, but I hate it when people can't separate the actor from the character. Yes, Betty Draper is spoiled and manipulative, but she is /was eye candy and that's what Don wants.

I don't condone what Don does, I just hate Betty be because she bitches and moans constantly and is always judging everyone. Not to mention the way she talks to her kids is bad.

But you never say "Don is a bad Dad". That's my point.

I'll say Don is a terrible husband. I can't call him a bad Dad because of how he's portrayed around his children. The older two seem to gravitate to him more and it's rare where there is an actual F up on his part besides the time he was supposed to pick up a cake and completely dissappear.

I forgot the whole giving her hair to that young boy and then being jealous of her daughter when they became friends later on.

Betty Draper, I can't think of another character that I absolutely hated in TV history. Well maybe besides Verne Schillinger on Oz.

The Skyler hate also stems from the Beneke stuff and how she clearly just threw it in Walts face to hurt her. Walt has done morally bad things but never directly affecting the family (before the whole whoops you all almost died thing). Skyler goes out to actively hurt Walt when his motivation was always to provide and protect his family. Plus she's a pain in the ass.

Betty is just a child. It's been the theme through her whole character punctuated by the Glenn stuff. She started this behavior before she even knew that Don cheated or knew any of the secrets about Don. She was just a spoiled brat kid who was bored even though she had everything. Granted Don is a cheater and a drinker and a liar but the character is portrayed in a way that we easily forgive that stuff because of how much of a boss he is. I mean people love the womanizing booze hound Don he's why we watch the show.

SPOILER ALERT BUT NOT REALLY

I know my reaction to the last shot of this season was "YES old Don is back" and I'm pretty sure a lot of people had the same reaction.

I like Don Draper, I hate Walter White. It's hard to stand behind manipulative characters especially when they think they know what they're doing yet their actions have attributed to the loss of innocent lives. Not to mention the guy is a flipping nerd yet can rise to power and just knock major players who were in the cartel business for multiple years out of the box. It's like, really Mr. Gilligan? It's plots are clever and he tells a great story but Walt has to receive a bullet to the head by the end of the show.

Also I think Brock knows what Walt did to him which would explain his uneasiness around Walt when he sees him.

Don pulled a surprise when he impulsively married Megan after she was his nanny with his kids on that trip to CA or wherever. He had been seeing that more sophisticated blonde consultant who he strangely dumped. It seemed that he picked her mainly because of how she was with his kids (at least at first). She later brought out her "Zoobie Zoobie Zoo" song and dance that mortified him, as well as her acting dreams that were never put on the table before the wedding. Don has been more the upstanding, moral adult in many situations over the last season compared to all the other male characters. They may feel the need to change it up, but I felt that last season was the best one yet in many ways.

The only thing with Don is that I wish he were a little more sympathetic when the situation calls for it. I didn't like how he handled his brother and Lane. I think those situations could have been worked out differently but that's just not who Don Draper is, which makes it damn compelling television.
