Whether you have finished celebrating Hanukah, are beginning your Christmas celebration tonight or on January 7th with the various Christian Orthodox traditions, whether you celebrate Kwanza or the Winter Solstice or if you share no particular confession at all. I offer to all of you the very best wishes and prayers from my tradition for the grace and gifts in your life of whoever and whatever led Moses and the people out of Egypt to the promised land, raised Jesus of Nazareth from the dead, or simply wills the magnificent splendor we label the universe.
May you sing the music of the season with gusto in the simple joy of harmonizing and may your heart be warmed with the oft told stories of a child born in humble circumstances in whom lay the hopes and expectations of a people from the least and who struck fear into the seats of power.
May your way be easy the coming year but when it is not may you find inspiration and hope that begins as small and vulnerable as a infant in arms and may it grow in your life with the power of faith and a belief that all things are possible and that even mountains can be cast into the sea.
Peace be with you.
And may God always smile on the UCONN Huskies!
