God ... Shawn Kemp was an absolute beast.
Agreed sometimes you don't appreciate the talent until their gone. Those collection of dunks are better than any I have seen lately.

Blake is like Shawn Kemp-lite IMO, he's not quite on Kemp's level. He's not as acrobatic as Kemp was and both are insane power dunkers. Kemp is the best power dunker of all time IMO, Vince Carter is the best acrobatic.

Definetly agree about Blake being Kemp like

Both are ferocious ... but Kemp was a mean dude when he was playing. And then he rubbed it in your face. Can you imagine what he would have done after that dunk?

Blake Griffin is this really sweet guy that just so happens to be able elevate above the shot clock and smash a dunk over your biggest guy.

Blake is so athletic and that looked absurd upon first take. Looking closer, he doesn't touch the rim and basically throws the ball in, kinda like his dunk over Mosgov. Doesn't make it any less impressive though.

I don't know. Now that I've seen it, oh about a thousand times, I am not even sure I'd call it a dunk. Athletic? Sure. Crazy vertical? Yep. Dunk? Nope.

He definitely touches the rim on the Perk one ... didn't on Mozgov though.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but the goal in basketball is to put the ball in the basket, and a dunk doesn't require ripping down the rim - in fact pre-breakaway rims guys didn't grab rim as often as they do now. So basically the rim grabbing is regain your balance and sound effects. Not absolutely necessary for a dunk. This might have been a tiny bit of throwing the ball into the basket but he doesn't let go until his hand is at the rim, so I think that's nitpicking as soon as he touches the rim (and Perkins fouling him is what prevented a rim pulldown).

I don't know whether its among all time dunks (context? put it in playoffs and absolutely), but it merits discussion. Its certainly the best dunk of the year especially when grading by 'talked about' and message for dunking over one of the leagues notorious tough guys.

Can you imagine if Griffin actually had long arms? His wingspan is only 3" longer than his height, which makes it even more impressive.
