Never been to Baltimore. Daughter is very interested in Loyola Maryland for college so I am trying to plan a trip there (and then to D.C., maybe Delaware) in the next few weeks, and attempting to catch a game at Camden Yards in the process. I am debating between getting a hotel that is close to the university, or one that is in the Downtown-Inner Harbor area closer to the ballpark.

Anyone with familiarity with the area have any thoughts on which would be a better place to stay overnight?

Thanks in advance.

Inner harbor- area around park was great when I lived close ten years ago, figure it hasn't changed much.

Inner Harbor ... no question. We try to see a game every year on our way back from Topsail Island. Saw the Twins last year and will see the Astros this year. Great area for bars, restaurants, and hotels.

I've been there like 15 times and actually on my first trip stayed with Loyola students. Stay in the inner harbor.

We stayed at Renassance Baltimore Harbor a month ago directly across from the waterfront. It was good and can recommend dining at Phillips Seafood.

Check out Captain James Landing. The crab shack, not the seafood palace. The crab shack is not fancy and you just belly up to a table and they throw the steamed crabs on the table and give you a wooden mallet. Cold beers, corn on the cob and just take your time picking and eating. It's on the outskirts of Fells Pt. Walking distance from Fells, a cab from the inner harbor.

Also check out the Hyatt Inner Harbor or Hotel Monaco. Fells Point has great restaurants.

I agree about the Hyatt. Great view of the harbor from the rooftop pool and bar...something the other hotels up the street towards Camden Yards don't have.

Also 5 minutes walk is Pratt Street Ale House home of Oliver's Brewing.

For a few years in the late 90's we used to go to Camden Yards every summer when the Yankees were in town. We'd stay at the Marriott Inner Harbor. Beautiful hotel from what I remember and the visiting players used to either stay there or the Hyatt down the street. The players would get hounded after the games when they came back to the hotel but they were really cool about it. Joe Girardi and Tino Martinez pulled an 11 year old me into the elevator with them, told my dad "Don't worry, we'll send him back down" and then signed a bunch of stuff for me as we rode up the elevator. Then Pat Kelly bought me a Coke at the bar.

Have no experience with Loyola, but Inner Harbor is a great place to stay.

Go to faidleys for crab cakes then alewife for craft beer.

Definitely check out fells point one night if possible

I used to stay at what is now the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court a lot, right on the water, very nice, easy walk to Camden Yards... haven't been for a few years though... but I can vouch for the Inner Harbor... absolutely worth doing. Great for kids... lots of stuff to do.

Love the Inner Harbor and Camden. If gambling is your thing and you want to have a little fun before the game, Horsehoe opened a new casino - about 1 yr or so old. Right around the corner from the stadium. Did that earlier this year when I went to see Yanks/Os

I've stayed at Hilton, looks onto Camden and Marriott, other side of
harbor. Either great, really fun area overall.
