Serena played poorly in 1st set and ended up losing it 6-4. Kerber is not playing great, its Serena is playing poorly missing a lot of 1st serves and so many unforced errors going long. Could be Nerves again like the US OPen.

So far the nerves are under better control in set 2, Serena with a 4-1 lead.

Serena definitely upped her play and Kerber is playing about the Same. Serena is starting to zone in on her returns. Serena only has two aces so far in the match. Surprisingly low number.

Just when I thought Serena would take over the match, Kerber ups her game and now leads in the 3rd set 2-0. May not be Serena's day after all.

Serena gets a break and the set is now tied at 2-2. Which player will be able to handle the pressure. Kerber to get her 1st Major or Serena to win her 22nd.

Kerber breaks Serena again and now leads 4-2. Serena's serve is letting her down and she served up two double faults in the last game to help Kerber break her. Serena is playing defense and Kerber is controlling the play. Kerber hit two great drop shots for easy points.

So I'm watching this match in Las Vegas, a guest of Andre and Steffi. I witness this conversation: "Steffi, come sit with me and watch these women, while we root for the American."

good match, she deserves it... Serena first serve stunk

Serena LOST the 3rd set and the Australian Open. Serena was within one point of the match being tied at 5-5 and couldn't hit the serve to tie it. Then IMHO she fell apart, especially the last point which ended the match. Serena was broken 3 times in the 3rd set. Her weapon "The Serve" failed her and so many unforced errors. Kerber only had 3 unforced errors and I think Serena ended up around 20.

Kerber deserved to win the 3rd set as she played good defense and just waited until Serena made a mistake and she made plenty of them.

I sometimes wonder how the umpires are able to determine if the serve is in or not. The ball is traveling 100+ MPH and sometimes the ball ends so close to the line

I say that too... but of course they're closer to the court and it's their job to watch those lines during the serve. and they got the replay as well
