So I did a little googling because it's so odd. Yeah, it's even odder after that.
I guess it could be someone trying to get a taste of some life insurance money, but I would venture that it's way more dramatic than that.
interestingly enough, aunty jen isn't"any reasonable 8 year old..."; wtf is that?
I think you guys are taking this at face value. The mother committed suicide not too long after a DUI/drug possession charge.
You've got the father's sister suing the kid. It seems to me it's a lot more likely those two siblings are trying to get at money that is locked up in a trust for the kid - than she is making some kind of legitimate claim.
Note she didn't sue her brother in the multiple years post injury pre mother's suicide.

I'm with you - I was thinking along the same lines. The sister wants in on the trust fund. But if this is a clue how the family operates, you have to revisit the original suicide for foul play.
Please tell me you are joking. She had 2 years from the date of the injury to bring a lawsuit, which typically take a couple of years to reach trial if it doesn't settle. The child is being sued as the negligent actor, the father could have been sued under a theory of negligent supervision, etc., but it wasn't necessary. The judicial website gets locked down on cases that are on evidence, otherwise I could get a better idea of whether an insurance company is defending the child (through dad's homeowner's policy) if I could see what firm is involved. Sure, it's a money grab, but for insurance money. Which everyone for some reason thinks is free. The most likely scenario is the insurance company, which gets to decide how to defend or pay this, told her lawyer to piss up a rope.I think you guys are taking this at face value.
