How much money do kids make right out of school these days? I am in the constructions and real estate business and don't really have any idea what a recent college grad makes working at an insurance company or whatever. I would guess 30-50k depending on degree, school and connections, with most making 30-38k.

I'd think rent under $800 per guy is what most require. Am I way off?

I started at 52k out of college. A few of my friends started in the high 40's, one of my friends started at 58k, and another at 60k. All in insurance.

In the insurance gig for 20 years. I'd say 44,000 - 53,000 is probably an average range for an average entry level position. Actuarial positions pay more. Some recruits get thrown into management rotation programs where they are brought in higher because of immediate potential.

The ones in the 40's were in underwriting. I started in Reinsurance. The one at 58K was in Product Pricing, and the one at 60K was a Catastrophe Claims handler. The management rotational programs are where the $$ and potential is for sure.

Same here. 2 bedroom close to Joeys Pizza. Live on Park Road. Best bet is checking craigslist for 2-3 family houses. Best rent close to the center. I pay 1300 for 1200 square feet and 2 bedrooms.
Damn, we live a stone's throw away. I'm right next to Parkview Liquors.

I made $52k out of school (Insurance), Roommates were $60k (Engineering) and $58k (Accounting). We pay $2,400 to rent our house in West Hartford, so $800 each was spot on. When we lived in Manchester right after school we paid dirt cheap rent. Was like 400-500 bucks/month per person.
