To all student athletes:
Washing your car - an NCAA violation
Academic fraud (per North Carolina) - not a violation

We live in a crazy world.

Requested the golfer pay back $20, which was deemed to be the value of the water and use of the hose.

That's some expensive tap water.

About as bad as TN's extra piece of cake violation a few years ago.

NCAA

Yeah, I could see the NCAA being concerned about environmental issues if all the football players in some water-starved part of the country started washing the SUVs given to them by their school's boosters, but Oregon isn't a place one thinks of as water starved. But as pap noted, when there's golfers involved in bad stuff like this, you really have to slap them down hard or things could get out of hand.

And holding Rick Majerus accountable for buying the pizza when he was doing support and counseling for a player who had just had a family member die.

Well, just as Purdue did a while back, they sent flowers to a team member who lost a family member - a secondary violation -and immediately reported it.

I'm so unclear what folks want from the NCAA re-violations. Totally depends on the situation if they think the NCAA (read top athletic director and coaches) is overly nitpicking or willfully blind.
