Been away from the BY for awhile for various reasons (hold the applause), so I need to catch up. Great article, but is there any reason to believe we're transitioning to a full throttle RPO offense this year? I'd say we have the right skill players to do it, but is the coaching staff willing and able to install and execute it, and take full advantage of that talent?

I was just sharing the article - no insinuation that this was in the works for UConn. Also had the UConn tie-ins w/ Moorhead/Breiner.

And I appreciate you sharing the article. As I said, it's a good one, but I wasn't trying to draw any inferences from it.

Stated another way, my main points were that an RPO style offensive seems to have many advantages, especially for teams like ours that need to score more points. And, I personally think UConn could adopt and exploit an RPO style offense this year with the skill players we already have on the team.

I don't think it would take much to turn the dial up on O. The question in my mind is whether our coaching staff is willing and able to install and execute an RPO offense and take maximum advantage of our talent (and collective experience now). My sense is this may be a little outside their (coach BD & FV) comfort zones. But I'd love to be proven wrong.
 
Is the quarterbacking good enough for that? Right now you have a QB with a recovering wrist injury and a red shirt Freshman as your top QB's.

Right now, it's March 27, with 5 months & change until a ball is snapped in earnest.

Isn't our QB an RPO type minus the option so far? Maybe improved OL play with get the O part moving...
 
I don't see any reason why, with the roster we have now, that RPO elements can't be installed into the offense. Yes, Diaco wants to be a ground and pound team, but there's no reason we can't be similar to what Pete Carol did with Seattle. They use the RPO, but a predominantly a run first team, especially when Lynch was healthy.
 
Hasn't Diaco said he wants to do this? Maybe it was implied. I know he wants a strong run game, but he has at least suggested that to make that work he'd prefer mobile QBs who are a dual threat. I don't think that means a true option team, but a team that incorporates those plays to a greater degree than a simple pro set offense.
