We used to have keg parties in a sand bank. Today, the Foxwoods Casino sits o top of it. Also, I always say that FF County is part of NY.

Even the car commercials said, it, 'offer valid in CT except for Fairfield county.' Fairfield county was also included in the metro NYC advertisements. I wonder if Jim Delany knows this?

The "high school parties in the woods" really got me laughing, something I always heard my CT friends talk about but never really understood
You never had to worry about making sure there were no traces of a party left behind for parents to find, lots more open space for unlimited people, no time restrictions, we loved being outside, anyone who over indulged only needed to walk into the woods away from everyone to get sick.,,lots of good reasons...but big bonus if you were by a body of water. Lots of parties at the reservoir where we could skinny dip and even if you were just by a river, we all seemed to be drawn to the water.

I don't get it. Many worse states for tickets like MD and OH. Never got a ticket in CT.
I have gotten 4 of them alone coming off the New London bridge headed east at various times over the years

I'd a thought you'd realize after the second ticket that the emergency U-turn just before exit 86 is a favorite speed trap location and slow down coming off the bridge. Could it be user error as opposed to the cops' fault?

I agree...Be careful if your ever driving in NC, speed traps everywhere and they never give out warning, always tickets.

The "ah" sound is the same for the "Ma" in Mary and the "Me" in merry. It isn't said the same in every Christmas special, you just don't recognize it because you are from Connecticut. You may think you say it like Jimmy Stewart but you don't to someone outside Connecticut. Best way to find out :try saying merry without an "ah" sound. It is really hard to go for us.
Mary: the vowel sound is like in "air"
Marry: the vowel sound is like in "apple"
Merry: the vowel sound is like in "error"

I find that people from CT really nasalize their vowels, which is why this happens after the nasal consonant "m"

.-.
Ditto here and I have not lived in CT since the late 1990's. My last ticket was actually in Wolcott several years back on Rte 69 as I was avoiding yet another mess on I-84 just before Cheshire on my way back to Jersey. I also remember the time I got a ticket for doing 37 in a 35 MPH zone going down a hill on Rte 42 from a state cop who was trailing me and I was on the brakes the entire way down.
Try moving to Florida. The cops here will give you a speeding ticket for backing out of your driveway too fast. Hell, they'll pull out of a funeral procession to give you a ticket. My legless neighbor got a ticket on his motorized handicap scooter(absolutely true). In Florida, people put up billboards warning you to get off the road(Rt. 301) before you get a ticket. They'll give you a ticket for pushing your shopping cart too fast out in the parking lot.
In fact the only thing in Florida they won't give you a ticket for is running over a black guy wearing a hoodie.

Yes, user error. I never blamed the cops for any of them. I was young and always in a hurry heading home for the weekend from NYC.

These are the British pronunciations.
