That’s perfectly fair but there’s no need to mince words. A backup PF that can be counted on to produce is going to command PT meaning we’d have to have a 10 man rotation. Otherwise he’d be a Koroma type ok with sitting on the bench.
Far more likely to be Koroma-like than not - insurance policy, hopefully better than Koroma. Otherwise we fill in the backup 4 by going small with Landrew or going big with one of the 5's. It feels like a high likelihood of some one year stopover willing to be here for a year. Not sure how we are selling anyone good for that role - has little present and very little future, unless they sell Khamenia going draft.
Also, Reibe’s touch around the rim, although i’m sure is now proved, was absolutely awful last year and he couldn’t make up for it on the defensive end as the season progressed. I didn’t think he quit, like other posters have mentioned, but it would make sense because Reibe was a liability at the end of the year.
Right That’s why i think it’s one or the other. Either we sell someone on a 10-15mpg role and play 10 guys, or it’s a Koroma type that might never play. But How can we sell someone that’s better than Koroma on possibly never playing? Thats really threading a needle.

I'm not mincing words, I've said the same thing over and over. We need a combo guard who can produce and be steady with the ball and a big guy who is bigger than Koroma. Koroma is like 6'6 210 lbs, he's not a big guy.
Then why won’t you just say you want a 10 man rotation? When we’re talking about Koroma we’re obviously talking about a backup PF.
Then that’s not a Koroma-like guy that’s the 10th guy in a 10 man rotation…and the question is whether Hurley might actually play 10 guys for the first time

Ok I wasn’t sure how good you expect this guy to be but now you’ve confirmed you want Hurley to thread the needle. Someone bigger and better than Koroma that could be part of a 10 man rotation but would also be happy sitting on the bench.
This. CG and a 4 who can play spot 5 if needed. I know we don’t have the money but someone like freeman would’ve made this team super dangerous. Nk could play 3 and backup 4

Something like that. We're pretty damn short in the froncourt compared to our biggest competition for the things we want to accomplish. Michigan, Florida, Duke, and St. John's are all going to be incredibly tall. We're starting a 6'10 center and a 6'8 power forward with only 1 6'10 guy off the bench currently.
Alex Karaban has also openly said that even if the rule passed and he was eligible, he would not come back and is ready to move on
I wonder if there are any 2027 reclassify to 2026 candidates that could fill a role as a Big/PF on/off of the bench
I've fallen into this trap too, but then realize pretty quickly Hurley's system counters with big guards and pulling these guys away from the basket. When an opponent has a Mara, not sure there is anyway to counter that with another big - he's unique. We outrebounded Michigan.

Koroma looks shorter than AK standing next to him and AK measured 6'6.5 barefoot. Standing next to these guys as an average to below average barefoot 5'10 guy (at least I used to be that height barefoot) is impossible for me to tell how tall they are.
Considering our primary and most effective 5 this past season was Reed listed at 6-11 and we did just fine against all those teams and might have beaten UM with better officiating, we'll probably be okay.
