Per Gavin Keefe:

#UConn source says Oriakhi considering his options with possible tourney ban but far from transferring at this point.

wtf...his dad must be really out of touch at this point. He really needs to back the *k off and let AO be his own man.

And just like that it is rebuked. Like I said, everyone calm down and wait to hear from Alex.

Lots of chats going on in Calhoun's office this week. He will steer the ship

Everyones gotta calm down because the only way AO can play immediately next year if he transfers is if we get banned from the postseason next year. If we do not get banned, then he will have to sit a year if he transfers. Therefore he will wait to announce he will/will not transfer after we find out exactly what will be going on for us next postseason.

Generally, if you hear something directly from the family, you should be predisposed to believe it.

Man, I'll never understand why people have such a hard time keeping their parents in line.
If my father pulled a move like this, I'd call him up and tell him to keep out of my life unless I ask for his input.
If he did it again, I'd say that he's out of chances, don't do it again or we're through.
The 3rd time, we'd be done.

Life is too short to allow people, who should be backing you, cut your legs.

It's not like AO's dad was lying... maybe not the best way to handle it, but AO did bring the family into it when he said he would discuss his options with them. He was officially gone anyways the moment he said that, in my opinion.

The problem is when the person who is cutting your legs off is your very own father, then through skewed lenses it is hard to realize whether they are helping you or hurting you. Unless his father is a complete balloon knot to him it is hard for any son not to have respect for their own father's opinion, unfortunately, even when it is wrong....

There's nothing worse than a kid who can't keep their parents in line. They grow up to be the type who lets their dog crap on their neighbor's lawn while their wife gets clocked by the old geek next door. It's a sign of weakness.
