Oregon Coach Gives UConn No Credit

Playing the 3 has been an adjustment for him, a little bit more ball-handling, a little bit more responsibilities defensively. But we do need him to get going. We know he can play. He’s struggling.”


“Our guys are down,” Altman said. “We came into the season with big expectations and Brennan gets hurt, Keeshawn’s hurt now, Jermaine’s hurt, guys we were depending on and we haven’t adjusted well. We haven’t adjusted well as a coaching staff. We haven’t adjusted well playing.


“Our ball handling is real suspect now. People know that; they get after Will and made it really difficult on Will tonight. We’re basically out there with four forwards or three forwards and a center. We’re going to have to continue to adjust and hope like heck we get some guys healthy here pretty quick.”

It’s a holiday weekend. Why do we need to deal with faux outrage? Why in the world would you care what an opposing coach says after getting destroyed?
 
He’s probably talking his team with his postgame presser. His team was bad and they need to get better. Giving credit to the other team doesn’t help his team pick themselves up and play better. Coaching psychology 101.
 
We had a starter out too but them not having guards was big. Tonight is a test.

Who cares? He was probably asked about his team performance.
 
He didn’t say anything bad at all. He talked about his team only. Nothing wrong with that. He’s right Newton struggled to shoot but caught fire and like all of us he was surprised. Their D sucks and their guards suck. His coaching sucked. No reason to be in a zone after we hitting like that. They have 3 big guys and were that scared of Adama?

I think the poster was a little miffed not by what he said, but by what he didn’t say. Losing coaches in a tournament usually do say something mildly congratulatory, but not this guy. Did a good impression of Roy Williams.
 
I’ve reduced the amount of my posting considerably. Lot of people with great contributions to this forum so very little need for it.

But even if I wanted to take some time away from my other endeavors this would not be something I feel I would waste any time on.

His remarks only make the his team's loss look worse. You don't get stomped on like they were stomped on by a team not significantly better than you are. Turns out from his post game reaction that UConn also has the classier coach.

Holiday weekends are the perfect time for faux outrage especially with a late start tonight. There’s a lot of free time.

It’s like you don’t know us at all anymore.
 
Oregon's problems are his concern and we exposed lots and lots of problems for him to address. Not surprised he was focused on his team and not the opponent. It was the kind of game you want to put in the rear view mirror and move on. Wants to forget it and probably wants the team tom forget it. Probably won't even watch the tape.
 
I agree with their coach's assessment. That team has a ton of issues right now, and UConn exploited them. I still think UConn beats a healthy Oregon team, but no way Oregon could guard our perimeter shooters with four bigs on the court. Add in the fatigue factor and UConn's depth at all positions. Sanogo goes out with three fouls and UConn doesn't miss a beat.
 
If we were missing 3 key players it could have been different or at least closer.
 
If they make the dance, I'd pay for that

He can't take notes. he didn't even know who he was playing. It was some phantom team that he was disappointed in losing to.
 
Maybe after the game, Walton told him to meditate on the outcome as a way to gain inner peace, or to go to a retreat somewhere to get perspective, so after hearing that, Dana was in no mood to compliment his opponent.

Just a theory.
 
It shows he's butt hurt from the Husky whipping his team got. To me that's better than a Coach issuing effusive praise to the victors.

Couldnt care less tbh. Im more concerned with Bama and how we will deal with their absolute stud freshmen Brandon Miller. I think Ajax is going to be key to guarding him tonight.
