I don't think Sabally has ever really gotten on track after spending some time w/ the German National Team and missing some games. The Ducks absolutely demolished Utah and Colorado last weekend. I think people don't really realize what it's like playing ASU in Tempe. Never a fun experience.

The Ducks look good at home. They won one road game coming into tonight and that was against a team without their star point guard.

They didn't play the USA. They played a team whose members won't see many minutes when the games count. I still would pick Oregon as most likely to win the title but "in a down year".
Alabama considers it a down year in football if they don't win the national championship so I see your point. :)

This thread isn't about Baylor. Please take your gloating elsewhere
How was I gloating!? Someone made a point that Baylor almost lost to Arizona state last year and I said at least Baylor won and Oregon didn’t. Just stating facts

You went a lot further than that.
Have you ever heard the phrase "act like you've been there before"?

Not gonna lie - was more excited for this game than for Stanford-Cal (and apparently, with good reason). I'm so impressed with CTT's coaching, execution, and adjustments; this game, like many games, makes me wonder what her teams could become if she could attract top talent to Tempe. She is so clearly a chip off the Tara block - they did an excellent job scouting Oregon's patterns on offense, limiting the pick and rolls, and disrupting Sabally and Hebard and drawing some fouls.

Winning ugly is ASU's calling card, and for 3 quarters it was more like "stay in it ugly," but down the stretch they were finding their shots and it felt like Oregon went deer in the headlights. Over the last few minutes, ASU actually looked like the better team, not just the team gutting it out. Also, it seemed like in the last 5 minutes Oregon's game plan was just give it to Sabrina and see if she can make something happen. I like Ionescu a lot, but this was the epitome of the brand of futile hero ball she has a tendency to run when Oregon gets behind in close games.

More than anything, you could tell ASU wanted it way, way more.

Fix it above. Graves relies too much on her. Maybe puts too much on her too often? And I am not sure what Sabally wants to do for the team this year. That is the biggest disappointment in play this year, Satou....

Not this year. Oregon walks on water in Bristol and UConn has been nothing but a lot of questions. If you don't believe that try going down the headlines for the last 2 months.
yeah, could ESPN kiss Sabrina's behind any more than they already do? Of course she's very good, but it
seems like they carry at least 2 stories on her each week. There will be yet another on Sunday....about how mentally tough Sabrina is, about how she quickly forgets about a loss and moves on to bigger and better things, about how she has unusual hobbies, such as collecting toothpicks from across the nation and globally too, about how she has a pet gerbil named Donald who is her best friend...... (yes, I'm making these things up)

I like the soon to written story about how she will save the Liberty and the WNBA. ;):D

I wonder if the curtain of distraction played a part?
It certainly seemed to with Hebard - she missed 3 of 4 FT’s when the game was on the line in Q4. OTOH Sabrina nailed 4/4 in that same stretch. ??

They played a team made up of players retired from overseas ball... like Bird (missed most of last WNBA season), Taurasi (missed most of last WNBA season), Fowles, Augustus (missed most of last WNBA season)... and a player that never plays overseas in Diggins (missed all of last WNBA season). Absent were heavy-hitters like Delle Donne (back), Stewart (Achilles), Wilson (funeral), Griner (overseas), Maya (sabbatical), McCoughtry (ACL) .

"Hebert" is the Ducks 6'5" QB (CFB) and "Hebard" is the Ducks 6'4" Forward (WBB). They are both tall so I can see how you got them confused since they look so much alike except Ruthie is from Alaska, and Justin is from Oregon. Easy to get them mixed up.
