Gloomy times fellow yarders, gloomy times. A lot of us are extremely focused on the negative which is completely acceptable after yesterday-the culmination of teetering on the fence of a meltdown for weeks. Shots not falling, rebounds not being grabbed, passes getting stolen, opposing shooters getting left open. Things we had been seeing for troubling 5 minute stretches of games finally mutated into a 40 minute debacle that makes it look like our team is two 15pt loses away from the off season.
However:
Sorry for the long post but after a half dozen or so threads with 1000 words talking about the season is over maybe it'll be a nice read.
However:
- Let's look at how the AAC tourney lays out for us: Memphis and if we beat them, Cincy.
- 2 very good very tough teams indeed...also two teams that we beat in 3/4 matchups this year.
- Yes it is hard to beat a good team 3 straight times and twice on their homecourt but at the very least these are teams we matchup well against and CAN beat.
- Beat them and meet up with in all likely-hood Louisville. Oooohhhh Louisville. You black and red snake in the grass.
- Are they better than us? Yes. Have they beaten us by about 50 points so far this year? Yes. Do I think we can beat them coming off two wins vs top 20 teams? Yes. That is a significantly smaller yes. But a yes. How could our boys possibly not be jacked up for that game? If I'm KO I'd show video of two things before the game. Our football team assaulting Teddy Ruxpin and beating Louisville two years ago when no one thought they had a chance and then the second thing. Ohhhhh the second. Montrezl Harrell. Is it Montrez with a silent L or Montrel with a silent Z? I can never remember. Show him posing after every dunk. Running up the court laughing at us. Discarding our big men. Hacking our penetrating guards. And also show him trying to hit a free throw. Tyler and Leon. Those are our two girthiest players and 6'8"-6'10". They have ten fouls. Devote all ten fouls to putting Harrell on the line. I don't mean lightly fouling him. I mean foul him so it's in the back of his mind next time he goes up. Foul him so that maybe he does something foolish and picks up a couple cheapies of his own. Amida really looked like he was trying to be physical with him yesterday and I admire that but he just can't tango with Harrell yet. If Harrell takes 20 free throws maybe he gets 9 points off of them. If he takes 10 dunks he gets 20 points. The only issue here is grabbing his misses.
