Honestly, I am still a bit confused as to why the game at Ramstein Air Base might need to be cancelled due to the government shutdown. The base is still operating and military personnel are still getting paid. Much of the setup costs will be handled by ESPN.

You would assume that whatever operational issues the shutdown poses at Ramstein would also apply to the DC Naval base. While I understand that some civilian personnel are being furloughed due to the shutdown, wouldn’t that apply to both Ramstein & DC?

Am I missing something?
Why wouldn't the same issues apply to a stateside base?

I had the same questions. Wonder if eventually the game will be moved to the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Relatively small, Division 1 level gym. On a good traffic day, 30-40 minutes from DC. Would be relatively easy to maintain security, no issues with ongoing operations, and due to number of available seats, parking could work. Suspect that an added advantage would be the ability of senior military and elected officials to attend. Travel for both teams not an issue.

Military personnel are not getting paid (unfortunately)

On the ACC site, they have the game listed at 5:30 PM. I assume that was put up when the game was scheduled in Germany.

No. 1 UConn's season opener against No. 20 Louisville that is supposed to be played at Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Nov. 4 is in jeopardy of being moved because of the government shutdown.

A person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday that if the shutdown continues until Monday the game will be played at a neutral site in the U.S. on the same day. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no official announcement has been made.

The game was scheduled to be played in a hangar at Ramstein, starting at 5:30 pm EST, on ESPN's schedule. Not sure exactly what time that would be in Germany, because Europe switches to standard time on a different weekend than we switch here in the States. The story on moving the game stateside because of the government shutdown said it would be at a military installation in DC. I assume that would be Andrews AFB.

True, you do have to be rested up to get to the 4:00 dinner at Old Country Buffet.
Yes, i suggest going 10 minutes before, get the lunch rate and slide right on into dinner. Same for weekend breakfast, actually better for me. I like a little breakfast before my Sunday dinner.

Come on meyers7, we all know middle of the day is first pre nap then nap time followed by after nap rest up.
That is because the USAF pilots need eight hours of sleep a day, and all they can get at night. 😎 🔥 😎

Go Navy!

Go Huskies!!!!

"The game is where it is because Germany is spookily dangerous now, but Germany is still the host. "
C’mon Rocky....Give me a break...
Germany “spookily dangerous?"
A preponderance of witches and Jack O Lanterns?
Expliquez, please.
