Those are such excellent points that bears repeating and expanding upon. We do have a tendency to get caught up on shooting and neither Evina nor Anna has shot the basketball well this season but both have played excellent basketball. Anna is playing the 4 and has done an excellent job of learning that position. Anna is a very active backline defender within the first few minutes of the Seton Hall game she deflected a pass and rotated to block a shot with two hands after CW was beaten on a backdoor cut. That's text book defense and she always working to improve her rebounding position. Both players are helping the team greatly by advancing the ball in transition for easy baskets resulting in both players having more assist than Paige thus far.She appears to be trying to do too much too soon when she gets in the game, not uncommon for someone used to playing major minutes. She will adjust or not but I think she is a far better player than she has shown in the small sample size but she needs to adjust to all that is new, as did Makurat.
One word on Makurat, many this board seem obsessed with every player for Uconn being an AA and compared with their greats; but I think she and Westbrook have played really good ball while not scoring. Neither player has looked for their own offense but have contributed heavily in other ways.
