Before Tim Pernetti got canned he was working on a series with UConn... either they are still negotiating or those plans went out the door with him.
Pernetti was a strong believe in building a regional rival with another school as he felt it would boost Rutgers. I believe he ideally wanted such with Penn State; but, Penn State did not share that mutual feeling. Thus, UConn and to a lesser extent Syracuse (because it’s a private school, not state) were his targets.
Of course, Rutgers’ news AD is from Louisville, so…
Pernetti bleeds scarlet and was pushed under the bus by Barchi. Rotten deal. I wish him luck with new NYC MLS team
