OOC/Conference Schedule Released by Teams25-26

Lawson is a much better coach than mulkey. I see Duke being 12-15 point favorites that game
Lawson is a better coach than mulkey ? With all due respect and 4 national championships to zero i disagree lol Yes i like Lawson more than Mulkey but im not going to be absurd and say shes better with no titles.

Speaking of LSU. I present to you their full schedule for 25-26.

Who else do you see bypassing LSU? When South Carolina is factored into this equation, I'm seeing six teams here. Are you thinking Alabama and forgot to include them?
Alabama lost a lot of talent. I have a feeling last year was the peak of the Kristy Curry era. The loss of Barker and Nye will be too great to overcome.

Good points, but it doesn't answer my question as to who @Baller29 has in their top 6 if LSU isn't in that group.

I get that LSU plays in the toughest conference. But Geez Louise, Kim once again loaded up her OOC schedule with more cupcakes then a junior high school bake sale. If it wasn’t for the ACC-SEC challenge vs Duke, the Lady Tigers wouldn’t have a single ranked team on their OOC schedule.

Mulkey's scheduling is my only gripe with her. She always has top 10 teams. This team especially is looking very loaded with talent. She could help grow women's basketball more by scheduling tough opponents in the OOC. I'd love to see her team play Uconn or UCLA. Or even Michigan, NC St, USC, ND, etc. It's mind boggling. I don't pay attention to them until conference plays. I will tune into the Duke game, but yeah. Hate to see that schedule for an elite program and elite coach.

1. Are you a betting man

2. Do you have cashapp

3. Fellow Duke fans, please pretend like my post never existed

I like how all logic and rationale thought is ignored when fans try to fit the narrative they want to promote.
#1 Mulkey is the second best coach in the game with 4 titles across 22 years and at two separate programs.
#2 While many want to bemoan Kim’s OOC the fact is this scheduling prepares her team for deep runs in the NCAAT more often than not. And that is the WHOLE POINT.
#3 This years team has a lot of new players to acclimate to the staff and each other so playing the JV squads to get a flavor of who they are is logical.
#4 I get she is polarizing and is not everyone’s cup of tea. But to say she’s 6th or lower in the SEC this year is silly. Dawn and Vic are returning strong teams but while I agree OK has talent Jennie B needs to prove she can win a big game and win with a target on her back. KY? Ole Miss? TN? Come on! KY has a lack of talent beyond Strack,Ole Miss is sorely lacking in the actually X’s and O’s of the game. TN has a gimmick that did not work against the elite teams so until she makes an Elite 8 I am suspect.

And even are resident Blue Devil fanatic would agree Kim is a significantly better coach than Kara. With any good luck, Kara could have HALF the career Kim has had. Win 2 NCAAT.

I actually generally like Mulkey, but I'm not "awarding" her 2nd best coach. She is certainly among the best and the 2nd most successful.

She has every right to schedule to prepare her team and what works for her works for her. It probably doesn't work for most other teams and it definitely requires being in a strong conference.

I will say that Lawson is entering her sixth year of coaching compared to 40 years of Mulkley. I don't think she (Lawson) will coach past the age of 55... So hopefully she can get one before she hangs it up.

I’d be very surprised if Kara has any need for social security payments eve at 55. She was a network analyst for several years and has been a head coach at a major D1 school. I have no idea what her salary is or was, but if I had to guess, I’d say she could probably retire comfortably even now.

Ok Mr Dog... Let's simmer down on the retirement talk.

Mulkey is not a good coach, I bet you a lot of money this team doesn’t finish top 6 in the conference

They are gonna get passed up by TN, OU, KY and Ole Mi
I don't understand how you can say this in the face of four national championships. I don't agree with many of her social stances, but she is a good coach.

Let the record show that I didn't agree with this assertion that Lawson is a better coach than Mulkey . That being said, let's get this thread back on track .

It depends on what you mean by “a good coach.” Winning? Teaching?
"Teaching" is fine for rec league and even junior varsity. In major college sports, there is a clear metric for defining a good coach.

Arizona released its OOC schedule. It is abysmal, but perhaps not unexpected in a complete new-build. That said, the current coach tried to blame some of it on Adia, which may certainly be true. Only Northern Arizona, which is a contracted opponent, was apparently in the top 150 of season ending rankings last year. A few of the teams had to have been near the bottom. I refuse to dignify it by posting it here.

Additionally, all games will be at home. Unfortunately, we will miss the 2 exhibitions and first 2 "real" games because we will be in Hawai'i. We will miss one game because it conflicts with an already scheduled performance. And one is Thanksgiving weekend, when we do not go out in favor of Christmas decorating (if it was a great opponent we would probably go, but it isn't).

In theory, if we had P4 talent, the games would virtually all be cupcakes. I doubt we are that talented, although we will probably still get our share of wins in the non-conference. The schedule is that bad.

Still, since it is a complete rebuilding job essentially from scratch, I'm not going to complain specifically about choosing to schedule lite, but as I said about Niya and Adia, how you schedule your first year should be different a few years later.

Well now. Belmont's schedule has got a lot of good competition for them. Love it.

That is a pretty tough schedule for a mid-major. 4 preseason ranked opponents. I'm not familiar with Belmont, but they must be expecting to have a good season if they plan on testing themselves this much.

I hope some reasonably widely available broadcast outlet shows some of their games.

John Wooden always talked about "teaching basketball" rather than "coaching basketball". And he was quite adamant about it, at least in the book that I read (Wooden, a Lifetime of Observations).

A little surprised that our resident @triaddukefan hasn't posted this yet for us to discuss whether Holy Cross is the biggest threat to Duke's perfect non-conference schedule. 👼

A very impressive schedule for Duke - I hope that they turn out to have some good games and are a little less offensively challenged than they've been in the past.
