I need/want to create a will. I know we have some lawyers on the board. Has anyone used online legal services like Legal Zoom for "simple" legal tasks like this? The will would need to be valid for the state of North Dakota.

Godspeed, MexicoHusky. Rest in Power.

I wish you posted more. You were a good'n.
Just been busy here in MX. Everything is still kinda new. Its amazing that 2 years in MX is just 2 months away. Life goes fast. Ill be heading back to Fargo at the end of 2026..... i kinda want to move to London now. Spent some time there this summer. I loved it.

I wouldn't be leaving much. Can I just leave my sister my usernames and pw, and let her transfer the money to her accounts as needed, or is this something that could get her in trouble?

if your sister is your only intended beneficiary, ask your bank if she can be added as a "transfer on death" (TOD) beneficiary for checking and savings accounts. For retirement accounts, IRAs or 401(k), list her as the beneficiary.

Wait, so you want a will that is enforceable in Mexico? The challenge with online Wills is mostly due to specific local requirements in each state that the software companies may or may not get right. Mostly they should, but there's a small risk involved. Mexico? No idea.

Legal Zoom is fine. It will walk you through a series of questions that are very similar to those asked by a T&E attorney. As an attorney, I can assure you there is no reason to pay someone to do a simple will.

Think he said it needed to be valid in ND. If that's where most of his assets are, then there's no need to even consider MX.

No. I want a normal US will. Valid in North Dakota

Any of the big names should be able to do that unless you have complex disposition. There's also other advice people often get (sometimes bad like using an irrevocable trust unless you are poor and in bad health). For example, leaving real estate to more than one person is complicated.
