One of Geno’s great moments, Azzi three ball

This was noticed in the post game thread, but I think it deserves a spotlight. A 17 point lead evaporated, and the team is sitting at only 5 up going into the 4th quarter, with USC feeling serious momentum. How many coaches would call the crucial next play for someone who was 0 for 9 in the game instead of Paige or Sarah who are both having monster games? Azzi being the shooter she is, muscle memory kicked in, the result of an untold number of shots put up in training and practice (nundreds of thousands). The shot goes in , we go up 8, soon to be increased, Azzi hits another three minutes later, this one with an incredibly quick release. The team gets comfortable, Azzi finishes feeling much better about things, and if she has a monster game in the Final Four, it would partly be due to this call.

Geno was masterful throughout the game with his substitutions, none better than putting in Aubrey when he did. it sure is nice to have options.
Starting the game with the offense going through Sarah was also a great move.

Paige on her knees, Azzi cutting to the hoop takes perfect pass from PB and scores a lay-up. Who in the world could have anticipated such a moment? In the midst of chaos, two bb geniuses made lemonade.
Priceless.

I don't know that I've ever seen the elevator doors screen before. Glad Rebecca pointed it out during the telecast.

It's run a lot more common thn you'd think, bcus whn the doors close the timing has to be right or otherwise it'd be called an offensive blocking foul, whn Azzi went through, Aubrey, and (to a lesser extent) Sarah shut the doors, the young lady had no choice but to try and crash through which, with Sarah there, wasn't gonna happen. Tht play was ran PERFECTLY! If any part (arm, leg, body) of tht player gets caught in the door the foul's offensive.

I truly believe there will not be two more games for UConn if Fudd is off the next game. If Fudd is on her game offensively it should result in a comfortable UConn win.

As the USC game showed, we do have other scoring weapons. Azzi simply needs to be Azzi.

I liked that after Azzi’s release , Andrey immediately sprang to the basket , ready to rebound!

I noticed that as well, but why did Sarah just stand there? Was she meant to or just didn’t know to go? I’m going to miss Aubrey so much.

In my mind, this Azzi 3 ball play in the Elite 8 is the coaching moment of the tournament. Look what Azzi did the rest of the way.
