One Game

After a half bottle of Seagrams VO and a couple of days of emotional recovery, I finally find myself looking ahead to the Michigan game.

One game. It will be the biggest crowd in UConn history, and I'm going to be a part of that. A chance to add a special moment in time to the book of the University of Connecticut. One game. We go in as a heavy underdog, with maybe only a puncher's chance, if even that. Nobody expecting anything from us other than to just lay down and die.

Screw the coaches. Screw the conference. I just want those kids to dig down deep within themselves and find enough in there to come out swinging. One game. A game like when we went in front of "Touchdown Jesus" and came out victorious. A game like walking into Birmingham and kicking the "cock" out of the Gamecocks. One game.

Pride. Heart. UConn.

I'm with you Dan...the obvious key in my mind is containing the QB. (Can't stop him, only hope to contain him) Somebody on the defense needs to get through and punch the QB in @@king mouth, damn it!!

Out physical the other team. I wouldn't mind a late hit (not to injure) but to let them know UConn football is still a physical brand.

RGIII didn't make that sh@t up. He got his ass kicked when he was here and the crowd was loud, and if I remember correctly, most stayed until the end.

If PP has lost the team, then the players need to play for themselves and play like the opposition is talking about their mother. EVERY F@@king play!!

I'm not leaving early, like I mentioned earlier that I might, and I'll be hoarse by the end of the night. I just want us to compete and not be embarrassed on national TV.

I'll consider it a moral victory if we can stay within 10 on Saturday and won't be distraught if it's under 20. Anything more than 20 will be hard to take but knowing PP is one step closer to the unemployment line will lessen the pain.

If we get blown out and he is still coaching for Buffalo I will be loading up the email of Warde and Susan, for whatever that is worth.

I agree. I'm sick and tired about hearing what a great team the Wolverines have. Screw 'em!

Totally on board with this. Said back in summer, that if UConn were to go 1-11 for the season, please let it be the Michigan game that they win. Funny thing, Michigan wins this game and it's just another unremembered notch (and defeated opponent) in their long and glorious tenure. If they were to lose? Well . . . . see Notre Dame. UConn beats them in '09 and three years later they are playing for the NC, so no big deal.

But for UConn, this game means everything. Lose and the Huskies and the entire athletic program continue their free fall into conference insignificance (the Conference of Misfit Toys) and justify, in many peoples minds that UConn probably doesn't belong in a Power Conference (an opinion I don't share since they already proved that they do). Win and UConn is on the radar. This would be the biggest win ever - at home, on National TV, against a traditional powerhouse, and as a big underdog. A win here would make the victory against the overrated Notre Dame losers seem like a victory over URI.
