*HYPOTHETICALLY*, If we get Kelly Oubre and Leron Black for 2014, we'll have a very impressive roster on paper.
It's kinda neat to look at it on the caliber of each player out of high school. (Of course, as we all know, rankings don't mean too much.) But nontheless, just some food for thought.

Freshman Class-

Leron Black- Rivals No. 16 Overall, * * * * *
Kelly Oubre- Rivals No. 27 Overall, * * * *
Daniel Hamilton- Rivals No. 28 Overall, * * * *

Sophomore Class-

Rodney Purvis- Rivals No. 12 Overall, * * * * *
Kentan Facey- Rivals No. 66 Overall, * * * *
Terrence Samuel- Rivals No. 118 Overall, * * *
Amida Brimah- N/A, * * *

Junior Class-

Omar Calhoun- Rivals No. 39 Overall, * * * *
Phil Nolan- Rivals No. 118 Overall, * * *
Leon Tolksdorf- N/A

Senior Class-

DeAndre Daniels- Rivals No. 10 Overall, * * * * *
Ryan Boatright- Rivals No. 42 Overall, * * * *

(Potential of three 5-Star Recruits on the team and five 4-Star Recruits)
(Oubre and Hamilton could potentially move to 5-Stars in the next update)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

POTENTIAL ROSTER:

(Keep in mind, the 1,2 and 3 spots are all interchangeable, along with the 4 and 5. For example, DD played the 4 this year and OC played the 3)

Best Scenario:

1. Ryan Boatright (Terrence Samuel)
2. Rodney Purvis
3. Omar Calhoun (Daniel Hamilton, Kelly Oubre)
4. DeAndre Daniels (Leron Black, Leon Tolksdorf)
5. Phil Nolan (Kentan Facey, Amida Brimah)

*note: additional recruits pending

Scenario 2

1. Ryan Boatright (Terrence Samuel)
2. Rodney Purvis (Daniel Hamilton)
3. Omar Calhoun (Kelly Oubre)
4. Leron Black (Kentan Facey, Leon Tolksdorf)
5. Phil Nolan (Amida Brimah)

*note: With DeAndre Daniels gone, additional recruits pending

Scenario 3

1. Rodney Purvis (Terrence Samuel)
2. Omar Calhoun
3. Daniel Hamilton (Kelly Oubre)
4. Leron Black (Kentan Facey, Leon Tolksdorf)
5. Phil Nolan (Amida Brimah)

*note: With DeAndre Daniels and Ryan Boatright gone, additional recruits pending

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONCLUSION:

I'm bored.

But seriously, the conclusion is that there wouldn't be a worst case scenario if we land Oubre and Black. Now let's hope KO keeps up the good work and gets these guys (and more) to Storrs.

I know its the off-season, but let's worry about 2013 before we talk about 2014, a lot can change.

Also, you can't just assume we will get Black and Oubre so easily.

Deandre will be gone and most likely Boat as well (even though I think he should probably stay).

I don't quite understand why people assume it's a foregone conclusion Daniels and Boatright are gone after the season. I'm aware both have implied they're goal is to declare following the season, but as uchusky pointed out, the fluidity of your typical players draft stock (especially juniors and seniors, who can't fall back on the word "potential" as often as freshman and sophomores) dictates it's far from a guarantee they won't feel differently next April when they're staring a potentially unguaranteed contract in the face. Boatright certainly implied after last season he was looking to make his sophomore year his last in Storrs, and Daniels arrived at UConn with the intention of playing two years in turning pro. We've also seen the inverse occur, where a player is sure they're staying (Drummond) only to change their mind when presented with instane fame and fortune. The bottom line is it's difficult to tell 12 months in advance where the trajectory of your career is going to take you. As of right now, Daniels is a borderline first round pick and Boatright is a complete afterthought unless he radically improves. NBA scouts aren't exactly chomping at the bit waiting to draft these guys.

That said, I suspect the odds are in favor of each of them departing. Daniels looks poised for a breakout season, and Boatright probably doesn't have a lot to gain from a draft stock standpoint by returning for his senior season, though the idea of being "the man" could be intriguing to him.

Boatright could definitely stay, but DeAndre is likely gone unless he has an underwhelming year.

The future does look bright, but we shouldn't count our chickens re recruits.
Louisville and Memphis will be top ten level opponents next year and Cincy and Temple will be strong as well.

Don't forget about Jakeenan Gant or Ahmed Hill. There are a lot of guys we can get for 2014 that would be amazing additions to the team

Not sure why we're bothering to talk about 2014 when we are poised to make a deep tournament run this year.....not to mention there's a whole year's worth of dust-settling left for the class of 2014

Hopefully, Daniels and Boat have great years in 2013-14 and they are gone! If they are still here then it means that our upcoming season hasn't been so good.

Louisville fans were likely saying the same sort of things a year ago about Smith and Behanan. There's no guarantee Daniels or Boatright works their way into the first round regardless of performance, especially in Ryan's case - he's an undersized, junior PG with major physical limitations. It would be pretty stunning to me if he somehow became a first round pick, and that's not to say I don't think he can be a great college player.
