It was chronic and only going to get worse. And it wasn't just one hip...but both! Double hip surgery has to take a toll. They made a mistake not redshirting him that year.
It wasn't chronic , and you're right they should of red shirted him.

I guess I used the word 'chronic' incorrectly? What I meant was that it wasn't going away, as it was a structural thing, and only had the potential to get worse.

surgery to address femoral acetabular impingement on his left hip in March and his right hip:

The surgeries involve shaving bone to alleviate pressure and discomfort and hopefully avoid future problems. Recovery time is three to four months, so Calhoun should be 100 percent by mid-August. If he was considering trying out for Team USA this summer, the recovery would eliminate those plans.

Calhoun was ranked 32 in the country coming out of High School by ESPN- Very highly regarded by Basketball experts!!
It's great to see him continue to Blossom like people always knew he could coming out of high school.

Really a shame the injuries derailed him, but he stuck with the program and definitely had some moments later in his career as well (road game at Florida).

Happy to see him doing well.
He will love Italy
Unlucky career at UConn but fortunately still can play . His future was in doubt with that hip problem.
I don’t think he ever played in the Calhoun era. 2012/13 was his freshman year.
When you look at the top recruits since then.
Calhoun hip problem.
(Although maybe no NC if he was healthy )
2014 -15? is a different team with one more shooter a great team if DD stayed also.
2015-16 is deeper if he had stayed four years.
Hamilton 2 years and done
One more year and 2016-17 is completely different .
Adams great but unfinished career
Gilbert has already lost two years
We have had some serious bad luck with franchise type recruits.[/QUOTE]

Nah! its wasn't a total negative experience. UCONN is a special place with a bunch of special people there. I'm just stating the facts!

Good for Omar. Always seemed like a good kid. He had to watch the magical run in 2014 from the bench, but that was a better seat than I had. :)

I'm very glad he got this game as a senior.
