Starts tomorrow afternoon. Basically an Under -23 tourney with some exceptions. It's important because it gives some younger players who are not quite up to world class level experience on the world stage. There are also some guys like Sebastian Soto who could be important pieces by the time WC qualifying comes along later this year.

1-0 final. Closed it out. Qualifying for the Olympics is huge for the development of these players. Vamos

They won. But the quality of play was awful. Back to the days where the USA couldn't string together three passes.

To do that, players need to get to Europe.

Sunday was much better. Mexico's win means they advance to the knockout round. So the Mexico game doesn't matter.

Well that sucked. We had plenty of opportunities, but couldn't finish. And then giving away goals.....now another 4 years (3). Felt like WC2018 qualifying vs T&T.

Though I was responsible for setting the strategy, making sure the players were mentally ready, putting the players on the field that woudl put the team in the best position to win, and then pulling a player who was not performing and/or making game time adjustments with a key sub, it was their fault...Coach Kreis. Not a great coach, though he has the making of a great bus driver.

I thought Yueill was good and tried to will this team forward. Herrera also worked his tail-off and was very dangerous. Lewis had to put that ball in the net with a simple redirect instead of prestezling is legs trying to get his preferred foot on the ball. Ochoa's blunder was bad, but overall he had a solid tournament. Most of the rest of the team was forgettable and that is why they are not going to the Olympics again. Most concerning is that the lack Olympic (development) experience foreshadowed the (very) senior USMNT team missing the Cup in 2018.

This was a team that could not string together passes to hold possession, suffered numerous unforced turnovers, could not win one-on-one battles on offense or defense, who consistently had poor first touches, and played without passion.

I found the technical skill of this group of players to be mediocre at best. We never had the best player on the field. If the USA was interested in winning this tournament, they would have sent a stronger group of players.

Same old from US Soccer every 4 years. Honduras didn’t even send their best.

US didn't either, but they had enough to get the job done. But didn't.

well its now crystal clear, evenmoreso than before - our euro kids >>>>> home grown kids. what a shame. especially for the MLS clubs who withheld players for their preseason. shame on them. very disappointing but this is not a reflection of where the program actually is. this summer will provide plenty of opportunity

You are what your record says. And if the program chose not to send better players, then their priorities are out of whack.
olympic soccer is full of stars of tomorrow. Our guys need to mix it up with Brazil, Holland and such

People need to be fired.
People = Jason Kreis

Ernie Stewart as sporting director has not impressed either. Gregg was not the right hire IMHO but his last roster and results are promising enough to give him the summer. Not even sure what Brian McBride is doing. Just disappointment all around. Again.

Other than Pulisic and Reyna. Pretty much every single one of our best players developed outside of the US system. Even McKennie was at Schalke when he was young.

Our system is pretty terrible, costly and inefficient.

We would do better using eugenics LOL. Pulisic is the child of two high level players. Reyna is the child of near world class player and an extremely good Women’s player.

It’s not a coincidence.

We have a dumb system that separates parents from their money and just results in pasty middle age people toting folding chairs around the local soccer complex watching their kids play for Premier Select Soccer Club etc.

It’s a joke.
