In the meantime, Ollie’s various charity works in Connecticut, on behalf of athletes with disabilities, will continue. There are more Kevin’s Kourt projects, basketball courts designed for all access, in the works and his golf event to raise money for 21st Century Tolland Fund has been scheduled for Foxwoods Aug. 19-20.

“Just this past month we were honored to help underwrite U.S. Paralympic Team members Steve Emt and Andrew Haraghey at the Winter Games in South Korea,” said John Staunton, president of the 21st Century Tolland Fund. “Coach Ollie's commitment to helping athletes with disabilities is a strong as ever and we look forward to our 32nd charity Tournament this summer at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Thanks to the support of Kevin's sponsors, more Kevin's Kourts are being planned.”

That is great to hear. However, unless I missed it, no one on this board criticized KO because of his charity work. Did you expect KO to say the hell with the charity work because he was terminated? KO 's character has been brought up many times and always favorable. He cares about people and has a big heart. Let's not mix up coaching along with charities. Great to hear he is continuing this great work.

Never saw Calhoun coach, so Ollie is the only one I know. Maybe it didn't end well, but I have the upmost respect for him as a person. Glad he's continuing to make a positive impact in the community. It really does speak volumes that he's still putting the well being of his surroundings as priorities despite what occurred recently.

I heard an ad for his basketball camp this summer the day after he got fired. I wonder what happens with that

Everything that I've ever heard and known about him says that he's a stand-up guy, from the time I was at college watching him play until this very day. The constant battery on this board won't change that. And I'm not surprised at all that he continues his charitable work...

Tiger Woods has his own foundation. Doesn’t mean his character is unimpeachable.

Ollie has good and bad qualities, like every human being.

Bravo for his charity work. He's helping to inspire a lot of kids.

Saw him tonight at Max Oyster Bar. He had a table in the bar reserved for him and another buddy and had two drinks pre-poured before he got there haha

It would actually be a reasonable take to say "I don't care about his charity work because he doesn't coach here anymore."

But instead the usual suspects have to twist themselves in a knot all over again.

Well, he is part of the Huskie legacy, part of the family. All the current players were brought in by him. So we should all just forget about all that.

Has no relevance on this thread. I suppose you can always broaden the thread to fit your needs.

I'm done slagging the guy. He's not the coach, didn't do good in his last few years, oh well. What needed to happen did. Won a natty.

I'll remember that. I'll remember him being a great player. Remember him being a grade-A *incredible* human. Guy owes me nothing.

Only the best to him in the future and i'm not going to endlessly obsess over the past few years. He's a husky.

Once again, great guy. I will never not root for Kevin. What he did for UConn cannot be understated. His head coaching reign didn’t go as planned but he’s just a great UConn guy.
