They don't want to promote the competition (CBS, TNT/TBS). We've seen this coming. They are becoming more cutthroat. If you're not on ESPN, ESPN will barely acknowledge your existence, unless they can denigrate you, in which case you'll be big news. Or, if you are on ESPN, but reject an ESPN contract renewal, watch out.
