Nolan immediately turned it over leading to a three. Went on a 7-0 run before KO took him out. A more confident SHU continued until the run was 16-0. Terrible substitution.

I have no problem with getting Nolan some PT. But he should be on a much shorter lease.

He played for 1 minute (unless the ESPN boxscore is mistaken, which could be).

And Olander and Wolf needed every single one of their allotted fouls.

I watched the game. He put in Nolan and we collapsed.

I think it's tough to pin that run on one player, especially since he's really a non factor in the offense. He was bad today no question, but that run is not solely on him

These two sentences contradict each other. He was out there for two possessions. How short can leashes get?

Sure the game turned there, but that's just hindsight. If you thought it was a bad idea at the time he entered the game, then I give you credit for prescience. It seemed like a good chance to get a freshman a couple token minutes to me. Just didn't work out very well.

I am watching the game on DVR right now. Since Nolan came in Bazz dribbled jumped in the air and tried to pass in back of him and it was stolen, then he dribbled into 3 guys and lost the ball, then he made a terrible pass that was deflected and stolen. Those things had nothing to do with Nolan - Uconn just didnt play well in that stretch.

No he wasn't.

He was in for a 7-0 run. While he is not totally to blame, that coaching move ignited the SHU rally.

Calhoun would have pulled him after the TO in his first few seconds.

The Bazz pass bounced off Nolan's hands. On the next possession, the ball was at Nolan's feet and he couldn't corral it. On the break away, he could have swatted the ball from behind instead he just ran beside the player. It was an awful two minutes.

Watch it again.

I will watch it again - At very least - it was as much Bazz as Nolan

There are ways to fact check these things you know. Official play by play:

25-12 7:54 Nolan in, Olander out
25-15 7:46 Edwin three-pointer
25-15 7:11 Napier turnover, Edwin steal
25-17 7:09 Edwin layup
25-17 7:07 timeout
25-17 6:35 Kyle Smith foul
25-17 6:11 Boatright missed 3, Johnson rebound
25-17 6:08 Daniels foul
25-17 6:08 Olander in, Nolan out

That would be two possessions. The run was 5-0 with him on the floor, for two possessions.

Nolan wasn't ready for the pass. SN set it up by driving and dishing. Worked well for RJ and even TO but Nolan wasn't ready. I thought the same as you first time I looked at it. BTW once that was ineffective and Nolan struggled to know what to do SN did some funky things. Not blaming Nolan but his movement didn't help the offensive flow.

It was a gamble by KO to put Nolan in. It didn't work out. But I like it now that UConn came away with a W!:) I think things would be slightly better if EW got a couple more minutes in various situations last season. Of course who could have predicted what happened at the end of last season.

I probably would have given Nolan the turnover on the catch. But at the same time, a PG should always be aware of his own personnel. A guy who just checked in and who hasn't played in a while might not be game-ready to make a catch like that. Better off letting him chase after a rebound to get into the flow of the game - or, if you want to get him involved, giving him a simple entry pass and let him try a post move.

If Seton Hall misses that first three after he checked in, or if Boat made his, maybe he would have gotten a little more playing time. Can't argue with the hook when he got it - but pulling him after 45 seconds and one mistake on one possession, before he even got his bearings, might have been a bit rough. Would be like letting someone pinch hit and pulling him with an 0-1 count.

We also didn't have to let Seton Hall go on an 11-0 run after Nolan went to the bench either. We stop the bleeding there and win by a comfortable 15, then nobody even remembers the play outside the Nolan family. Even with that run, we still won by 11, so we overcame any disaster that Nolan managed to create in his 90 seconds on the floor and got outta there with a nice road win. No harm, no foul.

Yeah, let's kill our head coach for trying to give a freshman who rarely plays some minutes when we're up 13 vs. Seton Hall.

I mean, , get a ducking gripe.

I just think he needs to calm down a bit & settle in.. He was very energetic & just hopping all over the place.

There were many other factors at play. One of my favorites occurred right in front of me: a rebound which landed in between 3 UConn players who had the ball surrounded. Somehow it bounced up and into the hands of a waiting SH player. How could that happen??

In addition, Wolf's hands are not pass reception worthy.

But we finished the day with a great 'lunch' at a Portuguese restaurant in the Ironbound. Unbelievable food / quantity / price.

I am not a fan of how soft and skittish nolan is on the floor. But this thread is nuts. Nolan did not cause RJ, Napier, and boat to fumble and mishandle the ball like 6 times.

I would think you wanted him leased out longer rather than shorter......................didn't know we could lease our players though, I got another one or two in mind...............:)

Where'd you go? I'm a big Fornos fan, myself, but there are a ton of good places around.
