Coach Ollie has to wait on the formal justice system's decision, but assuming that both TO and EW have formal charges dropped, IMO a reasonable punishment would be (for violation of team rules) suspensions (perhaps 1 game for TO, time served for EW), tight curfews for both (midnight?), strict probation (any further EtOH related incident or trouble with the law means they are off the team), neither is considered for team captain and neither gets to start for the first semester.
Yeah, and we should not let him watch SportCenter either. Please. Guy acted like a jerk. he was likely drunk and if the reports are true he's underage. So I suspect that there is some violation of team rules there if Ollie wants to pursue it. And UConn has had continuing issues with guys getting arrested. Ollie needs to take a stand. Wolf is easy. Good luck at the University of Berlin. But I think this is an opportunity for Ollie to show that he is serious about changing the perception of the program. And the best way to do that is to lower the boom on Olander. Yank his scholarship for the first semester. If he stays out of trouble, let him have it back for the Spring. Treat him like a walk-on. No media day stuff. None of the perks that would normally go with a senior. Maybe the next time someone decides to trespass he'll think twice. I get that 20 year olds drink. I get that college kids have always gotten drunk on Spring Break. But this kid went over the line. Is it a serious crime? No, its nothing compared to laptopgate or some of the things Miles was accused of doing. But this is an opportunity for Ollie totake a page fromRudy Giuliani's approach to petty crime in New York City.

D1 players are all in the spotlight to some degree, even ones who are mediocre at best. For what its worth, Olander turns 21 in July. Most of us did some really stupid things at his age, but there was no spotlight. Those in the spotlight need to avoid potentially bad situations. TO is probably a decent kid, but his judgement is suspect.

I know lots of kids who have gone lots of places on Spring break and probably drank lots of beer without getting arrested. Stupid doesn't even begin to describe this guy. But just saying everybody does it doesn't address what needs to be addressed. And until someone actually cracks down we'll continue to see guys showing up in the police reports next year and the year after that.

We don't need Olander. He has been nothing but a slug on the team, with just 1 good game in 3 years.
yep he's never done anything useful in his entire 3 year career here

I had occasion to go to a well known univ last week (spring break). The campus was pretty vacant - except for Chinese and Indian kids who were all studying their buts off. I guess all the all-Americans were in jail - via Florida and spring break? There's a social comment for ya.

uhhh relevant? Your "social comment" collapsed on itself when Enosch Wolf was born and raised in Germany

On our site - #UConnmen news: Tyler Olander Granted Diversionary Program In Florida After Arrest Last Week
http://www.courant.com/sports/uconn-men/hc-tyler-olander-court-case-0328-20130327,0,3173123.story

" Under the terms of the pre-trial program, Olander can pay a $200 fine and perform eight hours of community service – he can do that in his home area – or he can pay $280 without community service. He must pass an on-line educational test, and he must not violate the law while he is in the program. Once the process is completely satisfactorily, which usually goes quickly, the charge is then likely to be dropped, according to Olander's attorneys."

As per Ousterhout:
There's also the Tyler Olander situation, but it appears his transgression (while embarrassing for him and the university) was far more minor than Wolf's. In fact, according to Neill Ostrout of the Journal-Inquirer, Wolf has been accepted into a Pretrial Diversion Program and his trespassing charge is likely to be dropped. Olander apparently was staying in a hotel across the street from the Lakewood Wharf Resort, which requires wrist bands to be worn by its guests. Olander didn't have a wrist band on and was asked to leave by security and, later, a sheriff's deputy, who arrested him.

Stupid, but hardly a world shaking event.
