Yeah. I know.
You draft "NEED".
I call "B.S." on that.

Strategically either one shoulda/woulda/coulda drafted Bazz to keep him out of Miami.

BUT.
I guess neither OKC nor Memphis wanna win any championships anytime soon.
Too bad.
Woulda rooted for either one of them.

Now I have to cheer for the Dark Side of the Force if both Bazz & Ray are on the same team...

Why would they strategically try to keep Shabazz from Miami? You don't draft to keep a player from another team. Plus, they don't even play in the same conference so it is none of their concern. If there was a team(s) that should have done that it would have been the Bulls or Pacers.

I think he was referring to the intellectually revered Tic-Tac-Toe draft methodology. In more advanced arenas, occasionally labelled the Connect 4 c_ck block.

Ah yes, I'm famaliar with that manuveur. Such as when the Knicks drafted Renaldo Balkman because Isiah Thomas thought the Suns would take him.

Wondering why a team with Westbrook or Conley didn't select a PG is crazy.

I can listen a little more to the OKC thing, since I do think they would benefit from having a guy who could relieve some pressure from Westbrook, especially at the end of games. You want Westbrook to be Westbrook, but sometimes he gets so in the zone he loses Durant. But those are teams I can excuse.

Frankly, one of Bazz's problems is that there are so many good PGs out there already that very few teams needed one...especially teams in the back end of the lottery. Miami, lucky for him (if LeBron comes back), did. Chalmers has been underwhelming and pretty terrible.

I personally think Bazz shouldve gone to OKC because Westbrook could move over to the 2 and be the scorer he wants to be without having to run the point all game.
Bazz is in the best situation possible.

Its always best to be selected by a team that 'really' wants you in the way Miami did, and not just select you because you are the best available. Pat Riley seems to be making an investment in Bazz (based on all the maneuvering he did). Riley actions are louder than all the other GM's words. I'm so happy for Bazz, he'll be around for a while, the Heat just guaranteed that.
