Okay….who’s nervous? | The Boneyard

Okay….who’s nervous?

I've been anxious all week. 😂 I can't believe when I was younger I was so much more "ho hum" about the FF/title games. I remember watching the 2015 title game on the gym TV because I wasn't going to miss my workout session! I've become neurotic in my "old" age.

You are going to do this without me at 5. We just collided with my superstition thing. There in spirit while probably watching a couple of episodes of The Closer.

Yep, the season might end tonight. I have thought about how I might have to take a break from twitter for about a week if the result doesn’t pan out the way that I want.

I have also tried to become comfortable with what has been achieved this season. Making it to the final four the year after Paige left feels like a great accomplishment. Sarah strong won national player of the year. And Azzi Fudd got that all American distinction she needed to get on the wall.

Super nervous. Glad these games are not in Fort Worth and hoping we've left the poor shooting behind. Also trying to remember that Azzi had off shooting last year in the S16/E8, and then came out scorching in the FF. I'm still 'glad' that we have South Carolina tonight rather than either Texas or UCLA and I'm really hoping that I dont live to regret that 7 hours from now.

Sorry, but I am not nervous. I have been predicting Uconn will be undefeated this year since the end of last year.I will watch the game play out for one of the BEST team that Uconn ever had. When we winn NO,13 ,I will also say that with the addition of Olivia and the emergence of Blanca, Uconn will go undefeated in 26/27 and win NO. 14. GO HUSKIES!!!!

I'll have a beer or two before I hit the last couple of levels.

I am chain smoking chocolate. I probably will not watch the game. I’ll check in on the score every once in a while. If it looks like Connecticut has a comfortable lead, I might watch the end of the game. I am crazy stressed by big games and firmly believe that every time I turn the game on something bad happens.

Heck, I’m nervous, and I’m not playing. Good thing I’ve never been on the stage like this….. I would be shooting bricks from nerves alone. Let’s do this! Go Gamecocks!
I always found playing basketball, irrespective of the stakes, not to be an anxiety inducing thing. Watching on the other hand is anxiety inducing. I have no ability to impact the game. When playing basketball the fans and their noise disappeared. There was too much action on which to focus. Playing baseball was different. It is slow paced game.

If the UCONN players have any pregame jitters, they gone less than ten seconds into the game. If they feel any nerves during a game, it will be with free throws. All action stops. The crowd reappears, and thoughts of the game stakes may creep into the player's mind.

I am nervous and will not watch the game live. My husband watches it while I go into our bedroom, shut the door and watch happy shows. His instructions are if we are ahead by 20 points with 2 minutes left, let me know. Otherwise, I just watch the replay.
I’ll watch a Hallmark movie rerun for the two hours of the game and then die just once when I look at the final score
Why Hallmark? It’s absolutely positively guaranteed to have a happy ending 😙

I reached the stage a few years ago that I just appreciate that my school has 2 teams that are often (ok, the women pretty much always) get to the last weekend of the season. Of course I want them to win, but I will miss them more than be nervous about the game. Probably.

UConn will win this game and the championship one. There is no need to worry about us losing. Sarah, Azzi , Blanca and the rest of the team will not squander this game nor the final. It has been foretold .

Wish list:

Strong gets a double-double: 24 and 12
Azzi gets hot from three: 7-9
Shade breaks out of her season-long slump and scores 14 points
KK puts in a master's class on defense and holds Raven to 4 points
Williams gives us 25 quality minutes, doesn't foul out, and plays tough defense on Okut
Jana's ever-ready battery is fully charged and comes off the bench, ready to play.
Blanca shows that she will be a starter next year; she plays starter minutes and fills the stat sheet in points, rebounds, assists, and steals
Kaleigh stays out of foul trouble, comes in off the bench, and wreaks havoc defensively.
UConn scores in the 80s while keeping South Carolina in the low to mid sixties.

I know I am asking a lot...but, after all I am only a fan.

I’m always nervous before big games, but always watch. Don’t really understand those who choose not to watch our girls live. That’s not to say that I don’t continue to have great stress throughout the game…I do!

If you look at my avatar, you can see how I deal with the stress🍸.

GO HUSKIES🏀🏀🏀
