I didn't see most of it, but either Maryland had a great 3Q or Ohio State had a horrible 3Q. Maryland now up by 2.

MD forcing a boatload of TO on full court pressure

Kaila Charles must've seen the bulletin board material couriered by @TerpWomenFan :) she has 27 points on 12-17 shooting. Ohio State is folding like a cheap lawn chair. Maryland up 9 with 5:00 to go.

Ohio State just scored their first points in 6 minutes. Just a complete disaster in this second half. Incredible lack of composure and resilience. I'm guessing this is how they lost to Ohio.

Maryland put a full court press on and tOSU could not handle it at all. They kept dribbling to the sidelines, get double teamed and cough up a turnover. Charles was a beast both offensively and defensively! I guess that chat I had with her before the game about the BY showing some doubt worked!

I'm not sure I've ever seen a team wilt under the full-court press the way Ohio State did. They kept making the same mistakes over and over and over. Lazy passes, dribbling into a double team. . .

The worst part was McGuff called a timeout specifically to address it, and then immediately coming out of the timeout the freshman dribbled directly into the corner trap AGAIN.

Are you certain he told them to do something else? I mean, McGuff and all....

First time I've watched Maryland and tOSU this year, and I have to say that the play on both sides was underwhelming, to put it mildly: 43 turnovers vs. 31 assists between them and a general lack of court awareness/basketball smarts. I realize that I'm a Pac 12 homer, but, even so, I think that Colorado would give either of these teams trouble. From what I've seen, Indiana is--by far--the strongest team in the Big10.

I've never seen so many careless, unforced turnovers in a D1 game, ever. Not by teams that are supposed to be at the level those two teams are.

Kaila Charles did her best impersonation of Alyssa Thomas last night. She was fantastic. Blair Watson defense was elite yesterday but was ice cold from three point territory. Mikesell is still in her slump. Maryland's half court offense is terrible. They can't throw entry passes into the post. No mid-range or three point shooting whatsoever. Turnovers, missed layups and missed FTs. If it wasn't for the stellar play of Kaila Charles and elite defense in the 2nd half, they would have lost this game.

The careless ones were more from MD. They’re relying on a freshman PG. I think they’d be a much better team with last year’s PG (Lewis?) back, but she’s out with an injury. Notice how much better the team was when the freshman PG was out with cramps? I wonder if Frese noticed?

OSU’s TO’s were not really so much careless as they were created by MD ‘s heavy full court press. If a team can’t handle the press, they wilt, as was in this case. Some teams handle the press very well and use it to their advantage. If you’re capable of breaking the press, it can lead to easy scoring opportunities. I didn’t see the MD game with Northwestern, but my guess is they excelled at handling the press.

One would think that with a name like McGuff he could come up with a more effective response to the oppositions stealing the ball .

Northwestern handled the press very well in the Maryland game. Ohio State did what Northwestern did in the first half. Make a lot of three pointers and force Maryland into a half court game. If you do those two things, Maryland will lose, even if Kaila Charles does another Alyssa Thomas impersonation.

Many of OSU's turnovers were un forced. Just careless ball handling.

IMO, Shakira Austin is still not untracked. MD does nothing to "feature" her and she gets her opportunities through the few passes she does receive. Missed too many layups.

This part of their poor half court execution.
