Junior Etou, who played tonight after serving a six-game suspension for receiving impermissible benefits, has apparently been fibbing about his age. He made his debut tonight as Rutgers beat Stillman College in the "NIT Tip-Off Consolation Round". Stillman is apparently a college somewhere in America and the NIT Tip-Off Consolation Round is a tournament where shame is the only reward.

Anywho, while Rutgers lists Etou as having been born in 1994, Deadspin, FIBA and the rest of the planet are convinced that he's 21 and that he helped win a championship last season as a 20-year old high-schooler.

Rutgers is a blind man walking in a world full of rakes.

It's amazing they are in a better conference situation than us. It's not bad enough that they have never won anything in their history, they can't go a week without scandal and embarrassment.

It's a problem for his old high school, but it's not like colleges, including UConn, are averse to the occasional 21-year-old freshman.

I think the problem is the 21 year old freshman who was playing in HS, claiming he was 18. I hope not, but I sure hope some 15, year old sophomore girl doesn't come out alleging she was his GF last year.

OT- but did Rutgers really draw 396 fans for that game?

Isn't Stillman where Denise Cosby and Dwayne Wayne went to school?

Seriously?!?? Because they are joining the Big 10 next year and UConn is stuck in the AAC.

Let's go over this again! He's questioning how the heck Rutgers got into the B!G with it's dismal athletics and athletic department, and not UConn. He's not confused about the conference situation.

Sorry forgot the ?...

I'm agreeing with you @superjohn

That was tickets sold, not actual attendance. There were far fewer bodies in the seats.

I thought a player loses a year of eligibility for every year that he does not go directly to a college program after graduating high school????

That was Hillman College

@EyeOnCBB: Rutgers loses to Fairleigh Dickinson, 73-72. FDU’s first win over a D-1 team this year.

Probably a Red Sox 'consecutive sellout' tickets sold number too...5 people actually purchased tickets.

I absolutely love these guys. Especially when they are pushing 25 years old and try to get back in the high school game for one more shot at the 'big one'.

"Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind."
