Well this is bad. So much for some Christmas break entertainment. I guess it’s Rudolph.

Hoops isn't alone. Some big football games are being scrapped this week.
Just give me Coastal Carolina!

Our first game with them is nine days away, which means there is zero chance it’s getting played.
Would be easy to swap out DePaul for Butler on the 23rd. Butler was supposed to play DePaul on the 21st.

Also St. John's doesn't play on the 23rd. Could have them come to Gampel and get one of the make up games out of the way.

Welcome to the Midwest. Infection rates over in IL are close to 7% and was over 10% not so long ago in many parts of the state and had to be shut down.

Once it gets in there, it is impossible to stop. Can happen to any team.
I disagree...by that logic, any team that had it should not play again?? It doesn't spread by magic...Obviously with infection rates rising, the probability of getting it is higher, but with proper protocols, transmission should be prevented....otherwise, why even bother with protocols or a season?

We are pretty similar here in Florida however there are hotspots. Probably same in IL

I wonder what’s going on with this situation. Was hoping to hear some news by now that we scheduled a makeup game with one of the games we missed, or maybe we are still awaiting confirmation that the game on 12/23 definitely isn’t happening? Still seems like an opportunity with the Christmas layoff to schedule one of those makeup games instead of leaving them all to the 2 weeks the big east has allotted.
I would think the game on 12/30 with them is still on. Maybe even push the game on 12/23 back to 12/28 or something like that, if DePaul doesn’t have a game.

We aren't playing DePaul 12/23 and we aren't playing a Big East team it appears.

lol will DePaul ever play a game?
Hopefully by 12/30 they're ready!

Not much for teams with open spots on 12/23. UMass looks like the "biggest" name available in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. One option that may be interesting would be to break up the Saint Louis-UMKC game on 12/23 and have Saint Louis come to Gampel and then host UMKC 12/26 or 12/27. Similar to what Benedict has been doing in football.
