Yes, I believe that was a premise in the show. The lead character was a HS teacher trying to get out of Brooklyn. Things didn't work out so he had to go back. They gave him the absolute worst class, a remedial ed. class of academically challenged, inner-city students. It was the springboard for John Travolta's career. Pallilo was sort of miscast, but his character was popular. He is apparently a pretty highly respected Shakespearean stage actor.
