I'm reminded of a famous John McKay quote after another in a series of consecutive horrible offensive games by his hapless Tampa Bay Bucs:

Reporter: "Coach, what do you think of your offense's execution?"
McKay: "I'm all for it"

Hard-pressed to understand what the hell these guys worked on for 8 days in practice, but no way it can be what was shown on the floor today. Time for drastic measures, this team is regressing by the day.

Where do they start?? 3-ball D?? Strong accurate passing drills?? shooting drills?? drills to illustrate that bigger offensive players normally play closer to their offensive basket??? There aint time enough left in the season to illustrate the "how to" for the entire game.

Time to try something new, start with the basics, make them run a simple weave, or spread the court with continuous motion to introduce guys to the concept of moving without the ball. Even do it against a zone, why not? What's the worse that could happen, we go 8 minutes without scoring?

It is painful to watch this group of talented kids repeatedly go 3, 4, 5+ minutes without scoring.

I think we'll get it together by March. The team went through a similar stretch last year. I'm not jumping off the ledge, but at this point I'd be thrilled with a trip to the sweet 16 and a BET semifinal appearance.

Maybe this groups talent is a bit overrated.

Well said.....

Maybe, but I don't think so. We have one of the better centers in the Big East. We have one of the better wings in the country. We have a few reserves who know their role and tend to play it well.

We've beaten a few good teams in FSU, Harvard, et al. There is just nothing on offense, no clear cut strategy, no execution, no movement. It's ugly but we have time to get if fixed.

Lamb should never drive it through someone...pull up and make the jumper or floater.

AO and AD should never be given the ball at the high post, leads to turnovers or really bad shots...if both must play together, put AO out in the wing and have someone who can make a play at the high post (JLamb, NG, RB, SN and TO can all make plays from that position)

AD and AO should never be shooting 10 foot plus turnarounds, leads to too many airballs and bricks...work hard for position, use your rear ends to carve out space and catch it within five feet of the basket.

Two ball handlers need to come back to help give AD an open outlet pass...he should never be trying to thread the needle on an outlet pass.

SN should never just hold and dribble the ball in one spot...the rest of the team needs to start moving more quickly, JLamb needs to cut harder and catch the ball in positions where he can score...17 feet and in...catch it, make a quick move to create space and shoot it! Don't waste time just for the sake of wasting time! Don't hold it to the end of the shot clock then throw up a contested, fadeaway three pointer!
