COLLEGE PARK, MD. -- "Security was increased at Monday night's Princeton-Maryland NCAA tournament women's basketball game after a phone message was received detailing a threat against President Obama's niece, according to a person with knowledge of the threat who was not authorized to speak publicly because of security issues."

Just pathetic!

I really dislike this world we live in! There have always been bad people, but we have become so fractured as a society in this country, and as a race (human) in this world, that a lot of the bad people seem to have their own 'factions' supporting them.

Common sense, civility, and decency are in short supply.

What has become of reading comprehension in the year 2015 ? Someone claimed another person had a gun on campus. That = "threat" ? On what planet ?

Wait a minute..this is BS...a caller says that she saw a man on campus with a Glock handgun, and

"The caller linked the man's appearance on campus to tonight's game and Leslie Robinson, the daughter of Craig Robinson, Michelle Obama's brother, who is a freshman forward at Princeton."
Could it be that the paranoid anti-gunner saw this:
"undercover security officers were near the Princeton bench, the person said. Secret Service officers also were in the arena"

The caller linked the two. Nobody threatened anyone...ridiculous...

Really? You're willing to dismiss based on the second-third hand description of the alleged threat? Seems to me you're being a tad ridiculous.

Imagine if something had happened? Considering the recent gun violence on campuses... and the flurry of attention the Princeton team has received because of Obama's niece only a fool wouldn't have increased security. It's their job to be paranoid.

The game did go on, though, so that's some measure of how they were dealing with it.

Damn that is awful. It must have made it harder for those kids to just go out and play the game. :(

Actually it's even more ridiculous. The caller didn't say she saw a man on campus with a gun. She said she received a text from someone who knew the man was on campus with a gun. You're right, there wasn't actually any threat, other than the idiot phone caller.

Granted you have to run down a lead like this, but the way it's being reported and commented on is ridiculous.

Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Are the police to ignore the link?

Did you not read my post? What's with people and reading comprehension? I don't get it.

I attended the game. They were not doing very thorough checks on the way in. Someone could've easily smuggled in a gun. I asked the guy who checked my ticket "Obama must not be here tonight, eh?". He just laughed. I had no idea about the threat.

Where was the threat? And I totally agree that it is their (secret service and undercover cops) job to be paranoid. But for Jane Schmo to call in that she saw a gun, and to equate it to a threat on Obama's niece, is irresponsible. Nobody called in a threat, the caller who saw a Glock said that it must be a threat to her.
