This will be the first season where we have guys on our team wearing jersey numbers other than ones consisting of just 0s-5s. I think it's the third season now where the option has been available, but none of our guys did it until now. Furphy will wear 7 and Millender 9.
This bothers me, but I don't know why. One other odd number-related quirk about our team that has eaten at me for years is that nobody, literally nobody, in the history of UConn Men's Basketball, has ever worn #54. Now that so many more numbers are available, someone choosing 54 is even more unlikely now. If I were a walk-on, I'd take it, if only to say I was the best to wear 54 in the history of UConn basketball.
