November General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

Watching Gonzaga and OU and wow, Pack is in his 6th year at age 24. Dude has done a wonderful job of cashing in for a college ball player with no real NBA aspirations.
I did a double take when I heard his name in that game. This was the same guy on the Miami 2023 team that went to the Final Four.

It’s weird, I was rooting for Michigan State to win because we beat them. But that was an exhibition and of course has zero impact on any kind of metrics. Only the court of public opinion and convoluted transitive property theories (i.e., we’re better than Arkansas)
My first thoughts also!

Rough stretch for Acuff - and he got baited into a 3 point foul. In classic Cal style, frehmen Thomas/Acuff took 31 of Ark's 56 shots. While talented, you do wonder how it builds the locker room when the two frosh are given green light like that. Karter Knox, also a projected firsr rounder, came off the bench and got 1 shot. Cal can't help himself but to simply hand over the reigns to his burgers boys right out of the gates.

Let me proof check what I send to make sure I saying nothing that insults that nancy Inyatkin.
Yeah man, nothing tougher than hating the team you root for. Sorry you still have to see bums like Alex Karaban every week

Who said I hated them? I can love Alex while equally recognizing him as not the most explosive athlete in the world. Take the hyperbole as…….hyperbole. It’s not meant to offend.

Mich St hangs on vs Ark, I was expecting Arkansas to look better than that.
They both looked pretty unimpressive in that game. I’d expect both to be better as the season progresses. Arkansas because it’s so many freshman, MSU because Izzo just always seems to follow that path. It is kind of amazing that MSU won with ONE made three pointer. Izzo just refuses to get with the times on that front.

Most fans’ hyperbole: ā€œUConn rules and could beat the Celtics!ā€

Your hyperbole: ā€œOur players are unathletic and slow and stink and should have left two years ago, and I love Rick Pitino.ā€

It’s a choice, I guess

Does it make me more or less of a fan? I'm pretty committed and route as hard as anyone for them. Seems you are simply a tribalist who only sees your way as the right way.

I'd love to see any evidence that I love Rick Pitino. I respect him, pull for the BE, but also found them losing yesterday pretty satisfying. Seems you take everything out of context and are just hypersensitive to objectivity.

Yes, Samson Johnson had a hard time rebounding/catching very often, and his hands looked like chopsticks. That is fact. Yes, Alex is clunky, looks pretty mechanical/stiff going to the rim. Maybe you don't like the way I say it and consider it an insult - it's not the intention.

This is reasonable. I gotta admit you do say some weird things sometimes in a more negative tone, but I like this response. It’s reasonable.

I wouldn’t be sweating Mullins compared to Thomas. Mullins is a better shooter, perhaps not a better scorer. But he’s a projected lottery pick and probably better athlete than Thomas, so don’t sweat it. Alex isn’t a freak athlete but he’s also a BIT better than YMCA level.

Though I did get cooked this week at YMCA, I’m also 42 with no spinal fluid or knee ligaments left.

Many Bills fans in South Florida for game against Miami today. I’ve seen several FB posts on Bill’s Mafia taking over Elbo Room in Ft Lauderdale, one of my favorite dive bars.
Yep, Elbo Room was mobbed at Noon with Bills fans, cruised past there after morning deep sea fishing ... very impressive, and pretty friendly fan base!

I don't really - more about being super curious as to what really happens in these situations, would love to be a fly on the wall. The Toure scenario was interesting because lot's of inside info. Not so much with Thomas - and he is a baller and could totally see him fitting & complimenting this roster. We've stated we need less choir boys and more dawg with attitude, and he brings that. Hurley even says it in his book, yet seems to only recruit "nice" kids.

Lol, and yes Alex is better than YMCA level athlete. No spinal fluid sounds a lot worse than a bad knee ligament, good god man. Are you a vampire?

I agree we don’t seem to have anyone like that this year and didn’t last year but we had Cam in 24 and AJ before that who would have ā€œmurdered someoneā€ to win the chip for UConn
