Nova/Shaggy Zags

Can't watch Villanova without being reminded that Brunson was essentially Temple-bound until his dad got arrested. Ugh.

Perhaps, but what they really have is multiple guys who stick the shot when they are open. Particularly 3s.

Why don't we have those?
That’s what I want to know. I go through these recruiting threads and read comments about how explosive this athlete is, how quick that guy is, how this other guy has a great motor, and I rarely see anything about shooting. You need five shooters on the floor in the sense that they can hit “their” shot. Whether that’s a turnaround baseline j, a jumper from the elbow or a deep three, hit “your” shot when you are open.

And passing for that matter.

We don’t recruit guys that can make shots, we recruit high flying athletes. Shooting is almost an afterthought. I mean every Div2 school we play has at least 1 and usually more knockdown shooters. That’s their game, but not ours.

We aren't really recruiting either right now.

Villanova is good. That is pretty much the story. When I watch NBA games you notice that guys simply make most open looks. So does Nova. UConn could get a 4 on zero break, Miss the layup and two tip ins before the defense recovers and fouls us on our fourth completely undefended attempt...which we’d miss.
