At least ND has Hidalgo coming, which provides some insurance at point guard. But I want to see her with Miles not in place of.

ACC Network showed her walking around on the sidelines during this rounds games (Thursday). She wasn't on crutches but was limping severely. They said it didn't look good. They also noted that there is NO "official" word yet.

it did not look like her knee was pointed in the right direction in that clip.

To state the obvious, the most important objective is to ensure Olivia's long-term health. If that means shutting her down for the rest of the year, so be it. I certainly hope that doesn't include surgery and rehab, but that remains to be seen. If it's something that can be addressed without surgery and she might -- emphasis on might -- be able to come back, it would sure has heck make sense to focus on the NCAA's. Having won the regular season ACC title, ND won't fall that much (depending on MIles' health).

I think Citron, aided big time by KK Bransford and forward Maddy Westbeld, did a fine job against Louisville. Still, that probably caught the Cardinals off-guard, too. I'm sure Wes Moore has planned for all scenarios against the Irish.

Not surprised. Reports out of SB said she was limping at the watch party Sunday night.
 
Like many of you, not surprised based on what I've seen since the injury and heard (still limping).
Don't know the extent of the injury, but hope it's not too bad and doesn't require extensive recuperation. I guess we'll have to wait and see on that front.

Best of luck to 'Liv and family. Will be hoping the best.
 
I'm still wondering if she'll be ok for next year. Hopefully it's not an ACL or anything that would require a similarly extended rehab.

Change of subject and I do not mean to sound insensitive or inappropriate, but if this was known before Selection Sunday, would ND's seeding have changed? I am guessing yes. Just like ours would have been changed if Azzi was not available.

BTW, Florida State announced that Taniya Latson and Sophomore guard O’Mariah Gordon will also be out for the remainder of the NCAA postseason due to injury, leaving FSU with eight healthy players against the Bulldogs.

I also hope she’s good for next season. The whole women’s basketball is diminished when one of the greats goes down.

As for the other question, yes, absolutely, their seed would have been lower, maybe a 10/11, since they have no real pg. Ivey seemed to have been playing a bit of 3-card monty with the committee on this one.

I posted my thoughts before I saw that the seeding scenario was discussed in a couple other threads and I wasn't the only one asking...
But I really don't care because I dislike everything Golden Domer...
 
As far as seeding, ND did beat Louisville on the road without Miles for the entire 2nd half, and then beat NC State before getting thumped in the ACC tourney by the Ville. How much should they have been punished in the seedings because of Miles' injury? Small sample size, but they went 2-1 against teams that made the Tourney.

Homer take obviously, but I do think ND is now slightly underestimated because of that last Louisville game.

They are certainly not as poor without Miles as their last outing suggests. Also, Citron will actually have had practice time at PG, which should help.

There are a lot of teams that kept their injury situations close to the vest. ND, FSU, NC State, are just a few examples. Perspective as to who didn't want their rankings affected is based on one's bias/perception of the situation.

For those chirping that ND was being shady, take it with a grain of salt. It all shakes out in the end during the tournament.
 
Without Miles they will have trouble getting into their offense if the play a pressure defense. They may win 1 game but it would be a huge accomplishment to play in the second weekend for ND.

It's often said that teams can come together within a game to rally after a player gets hurts. When they played L,Ville again Walz laid out the perfect game plan against ND. Blanket Citron and make her life miserable. Make the others beat you. If another team can do that ND won't be around long.

I thought about that. Based on the 'S' curve, it appears as if Notre Dame was either the highest or second highest 3 seed since they were placed in South Carolina's bracket; the top 3 seed might have been LSU but they would have been bumped down to keep them out of another SEC team's region. The other 3 seeds (in order) appear to be Ohio State followed by Duke. So, had Notre Dame been bumped down, neither LSU nor Ohio State (because of Maryland already in that region) would have been able to move up to #9 overall; that would have meant that it would have been Duke that would have unfortunately ended up in South Carolina's region as the 3 seed. Not sure how far ND "should" have fallen had the committee known Miles would no longer be playing; if down to a 4 seed, couldn't be placed in Virginia Tech's region. It seems like it would have gotten messy.

It's not like Walz had to be a visionary to come up with the idea of keying on Citron. That much was obvious.

Yet, NC State couldn't do it. Walz is very good at coaching pressure defense and has pesky defenders like (most especially) Mykasa Robinson.

ND's opponents have surely saw the most recent Louisville game, but they won't necessarily be able to replicate Louisville's defense performance.
