"On Tuesday, Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim said Notre Dame recently voted against a billion dollar deal for the Big East for football with ESPN even though Notre Dame doesn't play football in the conference. Boeheim said had the deal been approved, Syracuse and Pitt likely would have stayed in the conference.
Boeheim questioned why Notre Dame President Father John Jenkins was on the committee to vote on the Big East football deal. “Yeah. I don’t know why that is," Boeheim told Mike Waters of the Syracuse Post-Standard. "Why would he have a say on the football contract when they don’t participate in it? If they really wanted to keep the Big East together they would have come in in football, then we wouldn’t be talking about this."
