Now, as a disclaimer, I am not at all saying these 3 did not deserve one seeds. I think that was the right call. Maybe MSU deserved a one over the zags, MAYBE, but I do not think over an acc one seed.

Also, I would not at all be shocked if all three made the final four. These teams DO NOT suck at all, they are incredibly talented. But the first half performances were way below expectations, dreadfully below, to the point where, with that effort, a s16 exit is very possible.

The first round performances were beyond lackluster. This was the first time two #1 seeds have ever trailed at the half, for instance. If three acc teams want to make the final four they d@*n well better pick it up drastically or some 4 or 5 seed might come out of nowhere with an upset.

Duke/UNC/Virginia were a combined.... -7 vs teams, at the half that they are supposed to smoke with ease from the tip, never mind struggling for separation 20 or 25 minutes in.

Lets look back to see how the Big east did in 2009 when they got 3 one seeds. The Big east was +86, an average of +22 per game. That is what a 1 is supposed to do. For sure not -2.33 at the half. I wonder, what is the worst point differential for the 3 lowest performing teams in any one tourney. I doubt it is even close to +15 or below...

It also makes me wonder, what is the lowest margin of victory for a 1 seed over a 16 that eventually went on to win it all...doubt it is less than +15 but who knows.

The gap is closing.

Incidentally of the 6 #1seeds mentioned by you, it was a BE squad that had the smallest margin of victory (Pitt by 10). What that means, I don’t know.

Kentucky won by 15 in 2012.
Maryland won by 15 in 2002.
Arkansas won by 15 in 1994.

lol but what if all three of these 1 seeds don’t go 12-0. will you be shocked?

So are you impressed by the acc one seeds in round one this year?

Not impressed by their first halves but I don’t think it means all that much. I saw the overall #1 seed lose a game to a 16 seed by 20. 15 and 20-point wins don’t seem all that big a deal. 2016 UNC was almost similarly as sluggish in their first game against Dunk City. They still were one buzzer-beater shot away from a potential title.

It is a long slog....it is the team that wins, even if coming back from behind to a lower seed, that moves forward.

Every high seed has vulnerabilities...and the long range shooters in today's game can make for rapid runs when they are falling.

Seems like some of the lower seeds that I have watched have some snipers...Vermont shot 50% from beyond the arc...and had 16 three pointers. How many times do you beat a team who has that stat?
