Northeast Power Rankings Week 8

They are just trying to get “northeast” football chat going so they broadened the scope. Pretty sure that they know where Virginia is.

They tried have a New England Football chat and unsurprisingly it was as dead as college football in most of New England.
I say, just come up with a new term to describe the East Coast down to Virginia. The Atlantic Coast works but there is nothing wrong with wanting a regional footprint including the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. All fairly densely populated until you get south of Virginia Beach. The SEC only goes to South Carolina so lets annex the Virginias.

You got what 20 FBS programs in that footprint split up between 7 conferences plus Indie. Everyone except SEC, MWC, PAC.
People claim New England doesn't care about big-time college football but the Nor'Mid-East sure does.

There's an existing term, 'Northeast Corridor'. It runs from Northern Virginia to southeast New Hampshire (DC metropolitan area to Boston metropolitan area).

Man does the state of Mass have bad football….

Navy, Maryland and Penn State were in the Big East?
No, but they are between Virginia Tech and the New England region. What I meant (but didn't state clearly) is that they extended the definition of Northeast to be the states that represented the original Big East football conference on north.

Penn St was going to be invited in the 80s for all sports but Georgetown and the other privates vetoed it.

From my New England perspective (which is skewed compared to people from other parts of the country) I draw the line of northeast at Pennsylvania. Once you go past Pennsylvania and New Jersey you aren’t in the northeast anymore. You’re mid Atlantic and mid west…
It’s called the Mason Dixon line.

Functionally for college sports it's the northeast. The line might make sense for mounting a military campaign in the 1860s.
